The sun will pass behind the orbital position of the satellites in the next few mornings at around 10am. You are likely to lose the signal for a little while during this period.

That was a public information film.

Oohhh it's like a Superchannel eclipse all over again.

Are you going to advertise a Philips Video Cassette Recorder in your next post?

Will I get a Sky News genie appearing, willing to grant me three televisual wishes? Wink

Is this happening to anyone else? I appear to have lost my Sky signal. Tried to use the telly just now but I got the message 'No satellite signal is being received'.

Am I the only one or could it be weather-related, as it is snowing quite hard out there...

Follow these instructions:

1) Put dodgybox to standby
2) Turn off dodgybox at the mains for 30 secs
3) Turn on dodgybox.

You should see a picture on 998, if not go to Services > System Setup and see if you have a signal.

I've had problems getting BBC One (BBC One London works fine) Channel 4, E4, Sky One, Sky Mix, Sky News, Sky Active, ITV2, ITV3, and loads more.

A wise Scottish lady once gave me the key to regaining my satellite signal, but don't trust me 100% with this because I barely know what I'm doing myself.

• Switch to one of the stations you've lost
• Press 'Services', go to 'System Setup'
• Press 0, 1, then Select.
• In LNB Setup, change the last 2 options to 'OFF'
• Save changes then press 'Sky' to exit.

• Press the power button on the remote, and switch the digibox off at the mains.
• Wait 20 seconds, switch back on. Wait for the red light to appear on the front of the box, then press 'TV' then 'Sky'.

You should see a blue screen with something like "No satellite signal being received" (and probably no search bar thingy).

• Press 'Services' and go to 'System Setup'
• Press 0, 1, then Select.
• In LNB Setup, change the last 2 options to 'ON'
• Save changes then press 'Sky' to exit.

You'll be taken to that annoying Sky Welcome channel. Check the channels you lost to see if they're back. It has worked two out of three times for me.

I've had problems with certain channels freezing, clicking & blocking, ever since the winds of a couple of months back.

Notable channels include SKY News, Men & Motors, some of the Discoverys, various music channels & Toonami.

I've done various rebooting, checking leads etc, but I'm still having problems.

Could the wind have knocked the minidish off slightly?

Do I need to bother Sky ? (Last time I rang, they told me to pull out the leads & tighten them, switch off the box etc, which is something that a monkey could do IMO!)

he evil BOFH (see The Register) would suggest that the best way to de-ice an LNB woukd be to connect the nice "F" type connectors to the mains, preferably between two different phases.

Well there you go - don't try this, or go up a ladder in this sort of cold.
