I agree.

But I guess ITV and the other companies must think or know that the presenter name does draw people in.
Lorraine's programme has constantly had her name in over the years: 'GMTV with Lorraine', 'LK Today', 'Good Morning Britain with Lorraine', etc.
(Unless she demands that her name must be in the programme she presents 😃)

Your post absolutely did not make you look anything of the sort. Just because not everyone agrees with you doesn’t mean your opinion isn’t valid. As a new Phil said, it’s an interesting talking point.

I notice that today’s show (Friday) might actually be Live.

Lorraine has interviewed Iain Sterling from his garden and it said Live on the graphics where usually that bit is blank when Fridays used to be recorded before Covid when Lorraine did Mon-Thurs

It is live.
No idea if Fridays will be pre-recorded again after the pandemic (whatever year that turns out to be!).

Lorraine doesn't seem to have been travelling up to Scotland and back as much since this pandemic began.

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of the launch of Daybreak and the separate Lorraine show after the demise of GMTV the previous Friday. I still think 10 years on that the 2010-12 music and graphics package is one of the better ones Lorraine has had. I do like the TVC set but not the music or graphics

Which Lorraine look have you liked the best over the last 10 years. (Launch, Daybreak MkII, The Circles, 2015, 2017, TVC Move)

I liked the launch look of Lorraine best in terms of music/graphics/titles, so the visual parts. Studio-wise however I think it looked better when it was sharing its studio with Daybreak mk.2.


On a slightly off-topic note, with Daybreak itself, I felt that on a whole the January-August 2012 time period was probably the best for the programme - the ratings stayed stable and were fairly decent for the time (as opposed to the Adrian/Christine failure), the set looked nice and warm during the winter whilst opening up more during the summer months, and you had good presenters in Dan and Kate, with the show having a stable and consistent running order. Kind of a shame that Dan Lobb disappeared off the radar entirely, I quite liked his presenting

The show (DB) was quite frankly doomed after the unnecessary revamp in September 2012 which dulled down the programme with an uglier visual appearance and a fairly dull theme & presenters, which annoyed lots of viewers at the time, and would only last until April 2014 when the axe was finally swung. Can't help but wonder how differently things could've gone if the September 2012 revamp didn't happen

It did feel with Adrian and Christine on DB that, a bit like BBC English regions post 2008, different areas of the show/studio started being changed until it was unrecognisable from the launch product.

Lorraine did feel like a life raft that had been cut adrift after DB's axing. They had the circles look, then the 2015 look which felt a bit odd. Now if they took the GMB Today style and had the 'L' from the logo in the circle and used the GMB graphics with a different colour palette it would look better


The top Lorraine sets for me were:
1. 2012-14 sharing with Daybreak MkII - It just felt really homey and warm
2. 2014-17 post Daybreak - there was the different zones for the difficult segments (Kitchen, Sofa, Table n Chairs, Catwalk)
3. The TVC Set: I love the videowall and how they now do the 'Coming Up" before the titles. I'm would get rid of the really high bar table though and replace it with a copy of the GMB main desk without the riser and the Lorraine logo on the front

Lorraine has had some awful titles over the years

The worst two were the one where Dan Wooten would whisper some juicy gossip in her ear as part of the titles, and then secondly, the one where she was just jumping up and down in the titles

The current look is quite decent in comparison.

I do like the current look but I do think they could with set of titles with Christine in for the holidays and a blank one for when anyone else bar Lorraine and Christine present (Andi Peters for example)
