This Morning has apparantly not been doing very well recently since Denise and Richard took over, but I think its usual very close when Fern and Phil are on.

Even when Fern and Philip are on, This Morning does badly in NI.

As an aside, I have an irrational dislike of Richard Bacon.

Same here. There's just something I don't like about him.

Does anyone know how BBC1 does against ITV1 in the ratings for their daytime programming? I would imagine ITV1 are miles ahead with This Morning. I don't know one person who watches BBC1 daytime - they all watch This Morning.

Same here, the only thing I watch on BBC1 during the Daytime is North West Today and Neighbours but even then thats only from time to time, but otherwise it's ITV or sometimes Five.

I never get how BBC1 gets more viewers during the Daytime, it's the same old junk of useless property and antiques programmes, I find it annoying that this is what we pay our Licence fee for, when we don't have a choice on BBC Daytime, even running some old comedy programmes would be better IMO.

BBC daytime has increasingly been beating ITV in daytime - with a few exceptions (The Paul O'Grady show does well later in the late daytime slot)

Since ITV lost Trisha, This Morning (even with Philip and Fern) hasn't inherited a hugely strong audience, and Breakfast on BBC One has improved against GMTV over the last few years, delivering a larger audience to the start of daytime. The One O'Clock News usually does very well.

I don't think ITV have got a huge handle on daytime - though they are now trying to diversify a bit. The BBC have successfully deployed drama (Doctors / The Afternoon Play, as well as US repeats) post-Neighbours and this has done well. In the run up to the One, their varied shows (not all "Cash In the Attic" / "Bargain Hunt" clones - there have been some more diverse shows, even moving towards current affairs) have delivered quite well. Don't think even Philip and Fern have got This Morning into the kind of ratings shape it was in with Richard and Judy.

It's definally in much better shape that it was in the Twiggy era though!

I think The Springer Show/Jeremy Kyle are slowly building an audience following the relative failure of The People's Court

Anybody know how Trisha Goddard on Five is fairing since it moved to the all new challenge groundbreaking 9.25am slot

At first I thought Lorne was a nice person, but then since I've seen the outtake programmes, she really isn't! Sad

The odd thing is that having seen her in various out take shows, she patently detests the whole thing - not least hanging around car parks on Sunday mornings.

Miserable she is.

Indeed, on those outtake shows she really does seem annoyed. I bet she's one of those tv types who is completely different off camera

My mate did work experience with Leopard Films in May 2004 and can vouch that Lorne Spicer is a moody old cow who is very mean to her runners and staff.

You can just hear people saying "Oh you don't work for that Lorne Spicer woman do you...the evil cow!"

I've noticed in the past she has started the show's like this...
" Rolling Eyes ... Very Happy Hello and welcome to Car Booty! Very Happy " *TV Off!* Mad

Found this showreel of her past TV appearances:
http://www.nci-management.com/clients/showreels/lornespicer.mpg Interesting she's featured with Richard 'bossy boots' Madeley. Laughing

Phew, thank goodness its not just me that can't stand her!

All these programmes like Car Booty, and Cash in the Attic are all very well, but if they actually wanted to make cash, why didnt they stick half the stuff on eBay? Not interesting TV, but is a car park, or industrial unit that?

Probably because: -
a) not everybody wants to use eBay
b) it doesn't always suit their lifestyle - i.e. they don't have time to keep rushing to and from the post office with packages and buying wrapping/envelopes
c) not everyone has a post office near them; the nearest might be some while away
d) people don't trust eBay or their personal details with Pay Pal/eBay.
e) the stuff they're trying to get shot of won't make much money on eBay/ can be too bulky to send/is more profitable elsewhere

etc.

These are some of the reasons I can think of why people can't/don't/want to use eBay.

Would it surprise you to know that nearly half of the UK's net users go to eBay monthly, and most of them are older surfers, according to net monitoring firm Nielsen/Netratings?

The story on today's BBC News Online which tends to suggest you might not be entirely right.

Seems like they are using Lorne Spicer like they were using Nadia Sawalaha (SP) a few months ago, she seemed to be on at least one programme everyday of the week.
