Reading the news doesn't make you a journalist. The prime example being Moira Stuart.
I think most people would value someone with 30+ years experience in the newsroom rather than someone who "qualified" as a journalist a few months ago and now has a job churning out clickbait articles for the likes of the Express.

Not having a journalism background doesn't means someone is any less of a presenter. Ben Shephard for example doesn't have a journalism background and yet he's hosted both GMTV and GMB.
Didn't she start out as a journo?
She certainly wasn't in Northern Ireland.
She started as an assistant floor manager, was an occasional in vision announcer on BBC Choice NI, then moved into presenting various programmes in NI before moving to The One Show.
Gloria started as a singer, before getting into TV and radio production.
Ruth started as a transmission assistant before becoming an announcer.
Being a good presenter, capable of asking intelligent questions and keeping a programme on track, has nothing to do with having journalistic qualifications.

But that's what we're saying- the better anchors of the show (Kaye, Ruth, Ranvir, Charlene) all are journalists and they're the ones who ask the best questions and seem the most in control of the programme. They're also not scared of debate.
Andrea, Nadia and Christine (as much as I do like Christine) have less journalistic experience and they're the episodes that seem to have more naff content and seem out of control.

I think It’s a bit unfair to hold the host accountable for how each programme turns out and whether or not it’s naff and/or out of control. Surely it’s dependent on the topics under debate (an editorial decision) the diversity and accompanying depth of opinion around those topics, the chemistry between the panellists (it’s as much their responsibility to produce a coherent, entertaining or thought provoking debate) and the quality and ability of the guests to contribute to making ‘good’ TV.
The naffness will also depend on whether or not a reality ‘star’ has been shoehorned in because the producer believes that’s what the audience wants (or they know it will generate online interest).

I think experience in current affairs output is more important than being a qualified journalist. Those that have said experience seem to fair better on the programme.
I also don't think Nadia is a very good main host, irrelevant of experience.

Maybe like Brekkie you should read posts better. I have corrected people who have claimed news readers like Ruth etc are journalists. I have never claimed that you have to be a journalist to be a good Interviewer or presenter.

I read your post perfectly fine thanks. Neither I, nor denton from the looks of it, posted anything which actually disagreed with it.
Loose Women has always varied from the lightweight to the heavyweight - both over it's lifetime and often within a show itself. It's always had a fairly balanced panel in terms of people you may say, at the risk of being corrected by Cando, have a journalistic background, and those from other areas offering another perspective.
Ultimately all that has happened this summer is, in a year which has been very heavy on the news front, they've bought in a couple of people from ITV News to guest host a handful of shows each.
