Kind of surprised that the current look has lasted as long as it has, at one point it seemed like they were revamping it every year, with each revamp described on here as a 'last-ditch attempt'.

Probably waiting for the move to TVC.

Today sees Loose Women celebrating their 18th year. Friday's programme is to be a special edition with a number of surprise guests, apparently.

Andrea MacLean, Kaye Adams and Nadia Sawalha will present the Friday show.

Sherrie, Carol, Denise, Jane and Jackie, I hope.

Edit: Sherrie confirmed as a panellist for Friday. Alas, Carol McGiffin isn't going to be part of the show. That's a shame. She's a legendary Loose Women panellist.

Line up is the same is the first show 18 years ago, left to right is Nadia, Kaye, Jane, Karren Brady. The format feels more free and there doesn't seem to be an anchor as such but Nadia and Kaye are both taking more of a lead role than Jane and Karren.

Coleen, Stacey and someone else will be singing at the end.

The show started with the panel introduction from the first show before cutting to the panel at the desk live.

After the first break, Karren Brady will be leaving the panel to be replaced by another former panellist, I'm thinking probably Sherrie. Jane McDonald recorded a short message that was played after the break.

And an appearance from Joe Pasquale for a slightly disorganised competition segment.

After a nice interview with Sherrie, it's now Kerry Katona. That's a strange turn and I don't like her. And she will be singing with Coleen and Stacey at the end.

The group sang 'Ladies Night' together; I wonder if Kerry Katona only agreed to do it if she could sing one of her own songs. (Although the Atomic Kitten version wasn't the original, it charted higher than the Kool and the Gang original version in the UK.)

Carol Mcgiffin and Denise Welch were not invited to celebrate according to Carol.

Seems that someone behind the scenes really doesn't like Carol, Denise and Jane as they were barely mentioned in the show, and it could be argued, Carol especially has been a huge part of loose women history. Jane was in some sort of vt after an advert, but there does seem to be some bad blood between them and loose women

Perhaps it's not so much bad blood, more a case of self preservation. It's surely no coincidence that those three names were the same linked with a rumoured pilot for a LW style show for Channel 5.

It was bizarre today how they treated the original panel as if they were some sort of iconic lineup. Loose Women didn't really find its feet until a few years into its run. The original format had more in common with The Wright Stuff than what we have today. It wasn't until it became Live Talk that it felt more like it does now.

I guess the affection shown to the original lineup has a lot to do with Helen Warner (now head of Daytime) who originally put the show together.

The old loose women theme was used today at the link from this morning, wonder if it's a permanent change...

It looks like it is permanent - as they've just used it on their walk on. The title card has been dropped as they go straight to a shot of the audience/set - as their intro. The voiceover is still there.
