The more topical skewed Loose Women performed better. Viewers don't need to hear about the drama of Ms Welch's lovelife or McGiffin's toyboy.

The fact even on the more tabloid This Morning that a news review still features amongst the silliness shows that viewers want to discuss the news.

Quote from Denise:

I will always cherish my time on Loose Women. But bosses are choosing to turn back time, and I'd rather move forward".

Turning back time can only be a reference to the return of Kaye and Coleen, surely?

Coleen and Denise fell out some time ago, so this is likely to be the reason for her departure.

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but Coleen is returning to Loose Women today.

This policy of choosing not to referring on air to resignations is bizarre for a show that discusses what's going on in the world. Facebook/Twitter is full of people asking why Carol/Denise's departures have not been referred to.

Not sure if its been mentioned? Without being rude, the whole thing has been discussed on the last few pages. And its on the thread description.

Yes, but it doesn't specify the day.
I have just noticed that it was mentioned, that's why I said ' not sure if it's been mentioned' must have slipped my eyes...

Hi Everyone! New to the forum! First post............

So it's been announced that Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore are returning to the show. Nadia starts tomorrow.

I thought that the show would suffer without Carol and Denise (despite peoples opinions they were big characters on the show) however I watched today and the whole show had a different feel to it, much more topical, ladies discussing meatier issues yet there was still the usual laughs with the guests. A welcome change in direction in my opinion!

I hope after Christmas when the new line up is in place we see a new set and that they get rid of the horrible titles!

As they are going down the journalistic route, I think Helen Fospero would be perfect on the panel.

I completely agree about Helen! I also think Fern Britton would be a fantastic addition to the panel!

Just watched some of todays show on ITV Player and I must say, what an editorial turn-around.

There were some really good debates on very interesting issues, most of them seemed to be the type of topics that people watching would talk about too.

Andrea McLean seemed less annoying in a more 'journalist' role like back in the days of GMTV, and Colleen is great as ever. I'm really pleased about the return of Kaye and Nadia too.

The show needs a bit of a branding touch up to match the content I think, the pinks and purples seem a bit fluffy. But apart from that, kudos to the new ITV daytime chief whose brought in these changes!

Ironically, isn't the new "newsier" or "editorially heavier" Loose Women more suited to Carol McGiffin than Coleen Nolan??

Kaye Adams, Coleen Nolan, Nadia Sawalha, Sherrie Hewson, Jane McDonald, Linda Robson: are we back in 2004?????
