Apparently Claire Sweeney will return to the LW panel for a couple of stints whilst some of the regulars (Jane and Kate) are away. Claire will appear later today, in fact.
I surprised they haven't had Cilla back to sit in for Andrea/Kate
Ya, Cilla was good, but you could tell that the others were feeding her with directions as and when the gallery spoke in their ears, as Cilla was not fully aligned with timing constraints. Regardless, she was excellent on the programme and I would love to see her back on too.
How was Claire Sweeney today, and who was the other "mystery" panellist today mentioned on their website?
Claire was really good, I'd like to see her return full time (I wasn't a regular watcher when she was on the show last) but she fit back in very well. There was no other mystery panelist- just Andrea, Carol and Sherrie alongside Claire.

Aaah, well spotted! Now when you're a gumby like me, you don't notice these things I don't suppose she's done live telly for a good few years-- and it was the first time she'd hosted LW. Since it's Cilla we'll let her off, I'd love to see her back as well, as a sit-in.
PS: Thanks for the heads-up (as trendy t'internetters like to say) GMc, much appreciated. Comrade Darling talking about minutiae of the economy or R Jairn talking about pies, no contest really

I don't even see why ITV bother showing it anyway- noone watches it on ITV and its covered a lot better on BBC anyway. Surely it makes more commercial sense to keep the regular daytime alternative?
Just watched it on ITV2 and got me thinking ... I'm really surprised ITV2 haven't commissioned a spin off going on air directly after the main show. ITV2 certainly have a big daytime audience especially in the afternoon, so its quite surprising that they haven't attempted to tap into the ITV1 daytime audience whilst the news is on. They could get away with it being half an hour long and it not as though its an expensive programme.
I know she's not everyone's cup of tea as the main presenter, but I think Fiona Phillips has done a sterling job this week, filling-in for Andrea and Kate, who are both off. Fiona can be wonderfully funny and isn't quite as "bland" as some of the other anchors who appear on the programme.
I don't get to see the programme live (only captures on YouTube), but yesterday's clips featuring Fiona Phillips, Lynda Bellingham, (even) Lesley Garret and Sherrie Hewson were hilarious viewing and I think Fiona's presence perhaps made up for the absence of Coleen, Denise, Lisa and Jane who otherwise provide the funny leads.

What - Looser Women?
If it's a case of commission the spin-off, then work out what you put in it, the spin-off is clearly not needed. Jeremy Kyle repeats are doing perfectly fine for ITV2 in the afternoons (shockingly fine actually - they rate higher than most of ITV2's evening output), and I doubt a Loose Women spin-off would better their ratings, so the cost wouldn't be worth it.

I'm not too keen on Fiona but I do think shes great on Loose Women- she isn't a glossed over presenter making no faults, and she has a habit of not thinking before she speaks which I guess adds to the show. I'd like to see them keep her and Ruth (some might say they're both Kate and Andrea in 20 years time ) and use them permanently as less frequent anchors. It adds a little bit of variety to the show, and with the nature of the show I think the variety is the key to keep it fresh. Yesterdays show was a good example of that, I couldn't agree more with what you say- and Lynda and Lesley aren't used that often, with Sherrie used more but not as frequently as some panelists. But it was a very good mix.
