And even more departure rumours, this time that Kate Thornton is taking some time out and will be replaced temporarily by Carol Vorderman! What's going on at LW????

Bitch fights? Isn't Cilla on the panel now? Perhaps she should host.

Looks like Lisa will be staying, then, since Michelle Collins (and not Lisa) got the role in Corrie.

Kate Thornton, Zoe Tyler and possibly Sarah Millican have been thrown onto the LW scrapheap according to todays Daily Mail. Zoe doesn't really add anything but they've ditched the wrong anchor. As annoying as Kate can be, at least she has an opinion.

I think Andrea can be loads more annoying than Kate, although lately I have found Kate to be quite annoying and apparently there is quite a bit of friction between her and some of the others lately. She had a bit of a set to recently with Lynda.

Zoe, on the other hand, is a very good member of the team in my opinion. She is more of a stand in than a regular presenter, but I always look forward to her being on. She comes across as a bit Brummy and Ditzy (two words you don't often see in the same sentence), but that's her appeal. I will be sad to see her go.

Sarah hasn't been on for all that long but hasn't really settled in IMO. But, some of the other longer serving presenters could be given a rest, IMO. Such as Denise and Carol.

The program lost it's appeal when Jane McDonald left. Jane was a crucial cornerstone in provided a good balance.

Edit: wonder who will become the new lead anchor to replace Kate. My guess is that only Denise or Lisa of the current crew would have enough anchor-saviness for the job. Or Janet Street Porter?

Indeed it does appear that Carol will be confirmed as the replacement for Kate Thornton on Loose Women.

Apparently these decision have been made, owing to falling viewing-figures (according to Metro today, anyway!). The audience for LW has reportedly now fallen to ~700,000, with more people watching Tim "orf" Wonnacott et al on BBC's Bargain Hunt.

To me Carol McGiffin *is* the show; I think many agree, given her longevity and frequency on the show-- so I don't giving her a rest would be a good idea. I think she's the most intelligent and knowledgeable of the ladies (I tend to agree with her on almost everything), and I like her personality. That's just my taste of course.

I do agree that the show lost a lot of charm when R Jairn departed ditto for when Coleen goes. I have it from reliable sources, that Janet SP hasn't been a welcome addition... Laughing

I think that's just usual newspaer cr*p. I've seen the figures on The Rating's Thread on DS and there basically the same as last year, the papers are just doing what there've done with Corrie - compared figures from a snow filled Januaury to a baking hot day in mid June! Laughing

Its definitely interesting that both This Morning and Loose Women have dropped in the figures recently. I know one figure from about 2 weeks ago had This Morning at around 800,000 with an audience of about 1 million watching Homes Under The Hammer. It has to be said, why is the audience dwindling? Maybe the focus on seedy stories related to sex (sex positions, toys) on TM...
In relation to Loose Women, the audience has been about 700,000 down from about a million also. I think its to do with the content, and particularly the fact that the discussions are usually the same - MEN: can women trust them, is there anything wrong with an age gap, is it okay to lie to them, is it okay to be in a relationship and look at other men. It's so boring and repetitive. If not that its babies, then theres always the Z list celebrities.

The whole show just needs to be looked at, I did read that Dawn French was being talked to about joining the panel, she'd be a wonderful addition IMO.

The drop in viewers across This Morning and Loose Women is simply because its summer and we've had some quite good weather. A Loose Women revamp was always planned for the autumn. If the figures are still the same when its freezing in the middle of November and Holly is back on This Morning with the new Loose Women line up bedded in, then its cause for concern.

I'd like to see Loose Women move back into and make better use of Daybreak's skyline studio. They're getting a new set too, so just swap the two studios over and have Daybreak & Lorraine in the same place.

Andrea, Carol and Lynda. It would have been better if they brought Jane back for another one off episode to well and truly say goodbye to the 'classic' panel.
