Think of all that free publicity for Loose Women and the You Tube hits, almost worth the OFCOM fine.

Not like ITV are strangers to OFCOM at the moment.

and to be fair, some of loose women is recorded - they are live monday tuesday adn thursday, with wednesday and friday being recorded monday adn thursday afternoon.

i suppose it was unlucky for itv that it wasnt a recorded episode.

Bad quality video now on YouTube...

I want to see the whole episode though. The swearing is only part of it. The bits after the swearing is what we want to see.

They went to a commerical about 3 minutes later, and I didn't see her in the next part of the programme. I had channel hopped away for a bit, though.

The amusing thing was, JR was the only interviewee that day; so for the fouth part they had to do an impromptu chat about Lynda's honeymoon and 60th birthday!

Even more unfortunate considering that Jakki had been hyping up JR's appearance earlier in the programme: "A true queen of showbiz.... she'll be an honorary loose woman today, staying with us to discuss all today's topics".

Immediately after the incident they let JR continue, with much forced laughter and meek apologies. Jakki said (as they paused for commercials) something like: "We'll be back for more chat with Joan, you won't want to miss it". When they returned minus Joan, Jakki explained simply: "Joan couldn't be with us for the rest of the show", seemingly as if she had some prior engagement elsewhere.

According to newspapers' online reports, ITV claim that guests are made fully aware that the show is live and no swearing is allowed. There have been a couple of mild and accidental swearing incidents in the past (Coleen once calling herself a "slag" Laughing ), but nothing as brazen as Ms Rivers Laughing

It's repeated at 2am on ITV1.

I bet it ends up being censored in the repeat too, even though it is 2am in the morning.

ITV takes swearing Rivers off air

Joan Rivers insisted it was not her fault producers could not edit her swearing

US comedienne Joan Rivers has had an appearance on a daytime TV show cut short after swearing live on air.

The 75-year-old's outburst came when talking about actor Russell Crowe on ITV's Loose Women.

The star claimed she was expecting a time delay so the expletives could be bleeped out.

An ITV spokeswoman said: "Guests are always briefed that it is a live daytime show and are reminded not to swear or use inappropriate language."

She added: "An editorial decision was taken that Joan Rivers should not appear in the final part of the programme.

"We would like to apologise to Loose Women viewers for the inappropriate language used on today's show."

Everyone apologised - it was hilariously funny
Joan Rivers

Rivers, who is currently in the UK promoting her London acting debut in a self-penned autobiographical play, said she had warned the show: "Get ready to bleep."

She added that it was not her fault that producers did not have the facility to edit out bad language.

The star said she was having a great time talking with the panel, which included Jackie Brambles and Carol McGiffin, when she made the comments about Crowe.

"I said: 'I apologise.' Everyone apologised. It was hilariously funny."

During a commercial break, Rivers said producers took her off the set, adding that it was the first time she had been removed in 40 years and she was "thrilled".

However, the star is prepared to return - but only on her terms.

"I would be delighted to go back if they would apologise and give me a gift."

Haha! Brilliant. At least it's proof something is broadcast totally live these days.

Make a change - it seems everything else is on a bloody time delay for one reason or another - and I don't get if why the prudish US networks can work with just a 7 second delay, why ours are generally more like 5-15 minutes.

They are? A live delay so remove profanities and the like is very rare on british TV, in fact the only programme I can think of with one is the live stream of Big Brother. It's very common in radio though

Some programmes are pre-recorded very close to transmission and then edited to tidy them up but that's not really the same thing

Can't really blame her - she gave them notice it was coming!

Not a lot of notice, nothing they could do about it.

Assuming she was briefed by a member fof the production team she's only really got herself to blame, but I suspect she knew exactly what she was doing

The Loose Women repeat was due to air on STV at 1.25am (earlier than Network), but has been replaced by Quincy...
Will the same thing happen everywhere else at 2?
