Someone's watch must have been wrong in the Look North Gallery tonight.

The programme finished so early, we opted in to see the full UK Today closing titles!

The same thing happened on BBC East and BBC LDN. I think it was London's fault instead of the regions. Here's what happened:

---> REGION'S FINISH EARLY, switch to Gwenan Edwards saying goodnight and end titles of UK Today;
---> HUW EDWARDS just about finishes headlines and says 'Peter Sissons will be here at 10', only to be cut off mid-sentence by a subtitles ad.
---> BBC LDN run regional ad around three seconds after network

So, probably BBC NEWS gave the wrong timings out to the regions I suppose!

In the North, we didn't see Gwenan Edwards as I think Look North are more professional than that, and stayed with the look north studio.
The sound of UK Today was also mute until the end of the titles.

I didn't see the post-Huw trailer, as I'd already turned over to ITV1!

I think UK Today must have overrun or something - as network has to cut them up on the network feed then if they overran, the Six wouldn't have had time to cut it down by a few seconds so network would take over when the news should have ended.

Apparently UK Today do that quite a lot (especially with headlines at the start at 1, 6 and 10... and regions are not very impressed! It relies on a regional director watching network feed very carefully - here in Newcastle Look North we got a brief UK Today music snippet but then we just had the two presenters tapping pens before the six sting eventually started....

Same thing happened here in the East Midlands - It was a relief to hear Gwenan Edwards as opposed to Anne Davies stumbling over her words for a few more seconds!Very Happy
