Thanks to In Tune for keeping us up to date. Can you give us any idea what the Hull studio will look like; ie single camera box type studio or slightly larger with more than one camera?

You wont believe me, but the Sub-Opt studio isn't finished yet.

They have been doing the pilots using the small Radio Humberside studio, with the Humber Bridge static in the background.

You may be interested to know the gallery for the sub-opt is in Leeds. They've built a mini-gallery to control the output, thats where the presenter is counted from too

Look North should pull their fingers out, they need to get busy with the sticky back plastic again.

I know it's not strictly Look North/Calendar related, but does anyone know why Countdown is currently being recorded at Tyne Tees. What did YTV need the studio space for, Wellbeing ?

BTW Countdown will be 45 minutes long per episode next week due to popular demand.

I gueesed that there technical side of the sub-opt would be in Leeds, as it's much easier to staff both logistically and financially.

That studio with the Humber backdrop looks cramped, and is a little bit echo-like. Paul Murhphy always looks a bit squahsed when he's there, I guess Tom Ingle wouldn't fit behind the desk:)

I wonder who will control the opt? Will sub-opt opt from Leeds, or will Leeds switch them away from their output, if you see what I mean.

And has anyone else noticed how messy Christa is with her scripts? They're all over the place, it's not PC in these days of presenters having a clear-desk policy. Throw them on the floor when you've done with them!!

Yes Wellbeing was aparantly using Countdown's studio, so Countdown had to go to Newcastle (I believe they've been and gone), so possibly soon Countdown will start to come from Leeds again

I'm not sure what Wellbeing are doing at the moment. All the programming says 'Phone Lines Now Closed' which means its no longer live anymore, but is the same recorded programming being used over and over again, or is new recorded stuff being made?

Talking about Wellbeing, Wheres Jonathan Morrell gone, it terms of this forum and of Calendar apperances, He did Calendar for a week, was a reporter for a week, and hasn't been seen or heard since!?
(Maybe he could be Steve's replacement on Live Lunch?!)

Wonder if Helen Phillpot is any relation to Colin Phillpot (BBC North boss)?

Helen Philpot (note the spelling!), as far as I know, is no relation of Colin Philpott, Head of BBC North, as their surnames are slightly different! I presume that Helen (who I think still co-presents the Radio Humberside breakfast show from Grimsby alongside Andy Comfort in Hull) will present the 10:25pm edition of Look North (East) from Hull (and at 6:30pm when Clare is ill/on holiday, with Lara King replacing her on the breakfast show. Does anyone else have any more background on Helen Philpot?! I'm hoping we'll get some sort of 'window' in Hull (Leeds looks awful now they hardly ever use theirs) although it'd probably have to be a view of Hull city centre as it would be very difficult to position a camera in a position which would get a reasonably attractive live image of the whole of the Humber Bridge!

From today, YTV Weather have dropped the 'boy and Ice Cream' again.
It was reinstated for Summer, but were back to the new 'YE Home Services' opening titles
