I've been in Scarborough this week on a Geography Fieldtrip. I got Look North on the TV while I was there. I thought the presentation was great! I like my own presenters, but I like the presentation, such as the Sport menus, travel menus etc! Peter Levy talks very loud at 0630 in the morning!! I woke up and nearly got blasted out of bed as he shouts more than other presenters!

Sophie Raworth used to present on Look North, or the Yorkshire one anyway.
I have the pre corporate title sequence here ::

The graphics package they're using now is far superior than the one that they used to - for the first time, they've actually made some attempt to keep to the programme's graphics in-keeping with those used by BBC One/Two News!! Wonder when they'll actually get proper widescreen?!! Also, why does Peter Levy have to present the breakfast programme from the 'broom cupboard' instead of the main studio?!

It costs a hell of a lot less to fire up a tiny studio than turn all of the equipment on for a big studio.
For short updates they aren't going to fire up the main studio, simply not cost efficient.
That is why the NWT morning and weekend bulletins have a totally computer generate view behind them.

Lisa Gallagher presents the weather from the main studio during the breakfast updates, and Tom Ingall used the main news studio to present the breakfast bulletins on at least one day last week! Don't other regions use the main studio for their breakfast updates? I'm sure Look North (Newcastle) and Newsroom Southeast do!

Yes, Peter Levy's Breakfasts do come from the Self-Opt studio, as does the Sunday Teatime bulletin, I think its probably his own preference because the equally short Saturday bulletin comes from the main studio.

I also think he likes to opt out himself at exactly the right time, especially on a Sunday

I wonder where Lisa does the Weather from at 6.58 and 7.58?

Also did you like the way Peter spends half the bulletin advertising people to turn off!
'And theres more for Rotherham on BBC Radio Sheffield, BBC Radio Sheffield on the air right now and throughout the day!'
'For more News, Sport, Weather and Travel visit our new BBC Online sites, www.bbc.co.uk slash Leeds, Bradford or Humber'........

Spotlight (I think), Look East, East Midlands Today and Midlands Today do too!

South Today uses the Oxford studio (actually in Southampton) which is only a small studio. It covers the whole region.

Wales Today used a chromakey based studio.

Reporting Scotland use their small studio in the newsroom don't they?

As for Points West and Newsline, I have absolutely no idea!

BTW, I think Spotlight do use the main studio but zoom in on the presenter and the window so you can't see anything around the chromakey window they have. When I was on holiday I worked it out because I could see a bit of the bar that goes under the window. Smile

Yes... that's why he annoys me at that time of the day! I find that Tom Ingall doesn't need to repeat himself as much... or state the obvious 'That's BBC One Ceefax, on the air right now and throughout the day' because he always seems to manage to time things better!

Look North Newcastle seem to use the main studio all the time but for Breakfast and weekend bulletins you often don't see the 'window' of Newcastle so it may not be turned on - which I assume costs money to power up.

Well, North West Today, I know use the self-opt studio for short bulletins, yet you can see a bar under the window, I think it is computer generated or somehting!
