I agree with Blackbird that it was a good send-off. I saw most of the show tonight, and it was a fantastic 'Goodbye old building' show. I made a special effort to see the show tonight, and I will also be watching the first show from the Forum too. Hit home just how good a presenter pairing Stewart and Susie are. I loved the 'blooper' sequence, especially with Penny Bustin trying to keep a straight face then succumbing to an attack of corpsing!! Nice to see Penny looking well, too. One thing that I'm not quite clear on, and that's the Cambridge studio taking over. AIUI this studio was housed within the Norwich building, and not in Cambridge at all? Someone care to fill in the gaps in my understanding?
Does anyone know what will be housed in St Catherine's when all the equipment has been moved out? Has it already got new people moving in to it in the near future? And, QUELLE SURPRISE!! I never knew Sue Osman is a Look East alumnus - you learn something new every day don't you? And tsk @ Ian White for not going with Penny to the closing show from St. Catherine's!!
The Cambridge studio is most definatly in Cambridge.
That's already been answered - The Forum is Norwich's Millennium building; it includes a library, shops, things like that. One bit of it is being used by the BBC to house BBC Radio Norfolk, the local and regional web team and Look East.
A bit off the topic but has Ivor left Look East? He is there tonight but being called a "face from the past".
Ivor and the rest of the weather forecasters were replaced a few years back with that horrid weather bimbo when the Norwich Met Office was closed down. Since then he has filled in when the weather presenter is off, until early summer when he “retired” again! He seems to be involved with Jim (Anglia’s former head of weather) Bacon’s company Weather Quest: http://www.weatherquest.co.uk/Content/About.asp Since Ivor retired it’s good to see Jim filling in on Look East.
Really was a good send off programme tonight, and lets hope Midlands Today do a similar programme when they leave Pebble Mill….
Obviously Anglia’s new look came about as a direct result of Look East moving to the Forum….

No - the Cambridge sub-opt has been housed in Cambridge ever since it launched. The original temporary studio was in the centre Radio Cambridgeshire studio cubicle, before moving into the space freed up when the Radio Cambridgeshire newsroom moved into a joint TV/Radio newsroom in a different building (which itself has now relocated)
Cambridge has a gallery on-site, which also contains (or contained) some graphics facilities. There are also a number of edit suites in Cambridge - that are used to edit reports for both the sub-opt and the main programme.
Susan Osman worked at Look East in the mid/late-80s before she moved to Bristol. Michelle Newman (of Central News and Top Gear fame) also presented with Stewart on Look East before moving to Birmingham.
Was lovely to see Cathy Le Feuvre again on-screen as well.

Likewise when Look North Leeds move from Woodhouse Lane to Quarry Hill. Perhaps smaller version for when Look North Hull move from Chapel Street to Queen's Gardens....
Yep - though MiniDV and DVCam differ only in the audio recording options available, and the robustness of the recording format (Different tape speed / guard bands). The video recording quality is identical - both use 4:2:0 DV25 codecs in 625 regions. (DVCPro uses 4:1:1 DV25 in 625 and 525 regions) However the quality of the camera bits of the camcorders available for DVCam are MUCH higher than MiniDV domestic stuff...
Surely the diffrence in tape speeds makes a very big diffrence in quality?
You can really tell the diffrence between a mini DV and a DVCam recording, I'm not convinced it's all to do with the camera
Very good goodbye tonight, even though most of it went straight over my head (not being someone from the east)
The building looks like the least TV like building I've ever seen, those plush chairs and the chandelier in reception are very odd. It is a shame to see somewhere cosy andfull of history be replaced by somewhere new, but the benefits of the new facility will far outway that.
Noticed as Larry Scutta said that the normally sub-regional 10.25 bulletin has been only one across the Look East region, and from the Cambridge studios, the past few days I've seen it.
It's been a couple of weeks according to my contact at LE.
Over the weekend all the lines, phones and other facilities will be changed over from the old to the new building. This does mean however that Cambridge is on it's own until Monday, completely disconnected from the rest of the BBC.
