Cambridge are doing it over the weekend

Are you joking? Has this happened before?

Not sure - but it has always been possible - and Cambridge has more than enough facilities to produce a weekend bulletin for the whole region. If they put a pan-regional presenter there - they could even run a tape of the Norwich backdrop to put in the projector. Many viewers probably wouldn't notice the difference!

During the 1997 election (before the BBC launched digital services) - backup plans were formulated for the whole of Look East's election coverage to come from Cambridge if Norwich were evacuated as a result of a bomb threat. (Security at all BBC buildings was massively upped during this period) TV Centre would have had to have done some switching - but in those days it was possible. Now I don't think it would be - as the digital networks work differently, and analogue routing may also have changed.

I reckon it's quite possible Look East will say at the end of tonight's programme something like "our Cambridge studio will be taking control over the weekend while we move into the Forum" - after all, the viewer will be well aware of the changeover. Things were done this way when Radio Norwich moved - the regional network presenters had to shift round, and no secret was made of the fact that normal presenters were busy rehearsing in the new premises over the weekend.

A bit off the topic but has Ivor left Look East? He is there tonight but being called a "face from the past".

Noticed as Larry Scutta said that the normally sub-regional 10.25 bulletin has been only one across the Look East region, and from the Cambridge studios, the past few days I've seen it.

Well a very nice send off from Look East, a goog look back at the history of the programme and the closing was very nice with susie and stewart closing the doors to St Catherines and a video of the Forum coming up. Well thought out from the producers and really gave that great building the justice it deserves. Good luck for monday Look East!!

Nothing of the new studio but i did get some grabs, not great quality. I think Look East were trying to look back at the building they were leaving in tonight's programme. Perhaps on Monday's 6:30 we will get a report about The Forum

Yes I thought it was a wonderful look back, meeting some faces even I knew, and I have little if any connection to the region. I like the way the nostalgia took up more than half of the show, and the clips were excellent too. Shame to say goodbye to so much history, and a lovely house -- but the new building looks just superb.

I do have captures, but I'm sure someone from the actual region would rather do it, I'll just post my favourite [sans doily] :

Best thing unless anyone has captured it would be the video of tonight's edition online - http://www.bbc.co.uk/england/realmedia/lookeast/cambs_tvbull.ram

I agree with Blackbird that it was a good send-off. I saw most of the show tonight, and it was a fantastic 'Goodbye old building' show. I made a special effort to see the show tonight, and I will also be watching the first show from the Forum too. Hit home just how good a presenter pairing Stewart and Susie are. I loved the 'blooper' sequence, especially with Penny Bustin trying to keep a straight face then succumbing to an attack of corpsing!! Nice to see Penny looking well, too. One thing that I'm not quite clear on, and that's the Cambridge studio taking over. AIUI this studio was housed within the Norwich building, and not in Cambridge at all? Someone care to fill in the gaps in my understanding?

Does anyone know what will be housed in St Catherine's when all the equipment has been moved out? Has it already got new people moving in to it in the near future? And, QUELLE SURPRISE!! I never knew Sue Osman is a Look East alumnus - you learn something new every day don't you? And tsk @ Ian White for not going with Penny to the closing show from St. Catherine's!!
