Must disagree saying that East Midlands Today is the worst though!! The production has higher production values than most of the other programmes and the team all work well together unlike some.
Also it's one of only three English Regions that's actually made and transmitted in true 16:9 widescreen AFAIK (the other two being SET and LDN). All this 4:3 zoomed and cropped to 14:9 is sh*te. It also seems that these three English Regions are also the only ones with picture quality that's up to the same standard as network news. The remaining English Regions are at various degrees of fuzzyness - some better than others, but nonetheless, they're all fuzzy to some extent. Midlands Today is surely one of the worst.
I can't wait for the Mailbox move, as I assume that better equipment will come with it.
I quite like Look East but that weather presenter is awful whats all this with her head coming forward??!! They should get a soft set ,it would help the programme to look more relaxed!
With the opt what has happened to Amanda Goodman???

In fact, Look East does have a soft set area (seperated by a curtain, as I recall), but it's not used very much now (the last I remember it was used was on the final day of the Lauren Wright trial, when they interviewed the former head of Norfolk Social Services on the programme).
Nowadays I think it's only used for the Politics Show (and was also used by it's predecessor, The East at Westminster)
But I expect that there will be changes, in particular with the production and technical side of Look East and other regional programmes, when they move to The Forum (expected to be in September, according to the publicity leaflet produced for Radio Norfolk's recent move).

I saw their new studio at the Forum last week. The set was still being built - so actually that doesn't shed much more light on the subject....!

Yep - Look East has a strange shape of studio. The main Look East set is in the main area, but there is a large hole in the studio wall leading into an Annexe studio (which has housed East at Westminster and a Look East soft set in the past), which is part of an extension that also houses the Presentation gallery/self-op position, and was once home to the Norwich down-the-line camera before the advent of the newsroom camera.
Tonight’s Look East started a new series of BBC East archive clips that will be broadcast “every Monday during the summer” prior to the move to the new studios in Norwich’s Forum. Tonight was basically an intro to the series, though there were many clips of Look East title sequences from over the years. Interestingly a clip of a BBC East drama called “Maria Martin” from 1962 was shown, but goodness knows were they found the studio space at the BBC in Norwich to make a drama!!!
Next week is a look at BBC East’s early years, though nothing was mentioned about the Forum, or the move date.

Penny Bustin was in one of them, it was from before her move to Look North and thence, out of tele-journalism....

She was always a very strong presenter on Look East, and between the two "Looks" she worked for a charity in Norwich for a bit before reappearing on East Mids Today as a reporter....
I believe she has now got over the telling off she no doubt received for telling a small boy to 'Shut up - You're not getting on TV' on a Children in Need OB
