I'd like to know how they managed to get HRH (Sir) Prince Charles, as he looked in the early 1980's, superimposed
into the studio, talking to the "Invention of The Year" winners, and handing the "Look Around You" trophy to them.

Someone give the Talkback/Thames special effects team a generous helping of casserole!

Very clever wasn't it? I assume they used footage of him when he gave out an award on Tomorows World, they cut away from him every time he said 'Look Around You' but most of the rest was lip-synced.

Anyone else spot the 'Slimby' picture flash up at the end?

Absolutely brilliant stuff.

Last nights episode is even funny in the telling, and I've done a fair bit of that this morning.

Thanks team... theam.

This series definatley got better as it went along, I'm glad I stuck with it after the awful first episode.

The "live" cock ups were so true of how these things happened back then, from the second glance of the =2= at the beginning to that God awful "extra programme" about birds. Very well done, I loved it!

Definitely worth it (or worth whatever Play's selling it for). The first series was even better than the second, plus there are some nice anoraky extras on the DVD.

The most intriguing thing about series 1 is that the countdown clock at the start of each programme is clearly based on ITV presentation of the time, and is nothing like anything that was ever used on the BBC.

Also rather disappointed to see that it's in widescreen which destroys the good work they did to date the programme. Nice to see that in the interests of creativity, series 2 was in 4:3.

I must remind HMV Boston to re-stock their shelves with the Look Around You DVD..... really warmed to it in the last few weeks!

I should warn you however, that the first series is absolutely nothing at all like the second series. Instead of the pseudo-Tomorrow's World' format of series 2, series 1 is a collection of 10 minute shorts which mimick 1970's OU programmes (except for the title sequence featuring a BBC Microcomputer, of course). Perhaps it's just me, but I don't think the first series is anywhere near as good.

Not really surprising when you consider the source of inspiration for the series was Granada's programme for schools 'Experiment'.

Correct.
Whilst series 2 was a spoofing a BBC show on the BBC - Series one was spoofing and ITV show on the BBC.
The countdown clock made that perfectly obvious.

I've enjoyed both series of Look Around You - but to get some of the jokes in series 2 you needed to have watched series 1 (a lot!)
