Josie D'Arby of Blue Peter fame?! I'm worried now!

Eh? Josie D'Arby never did Blue Peter. Are you getting her mixed up with Diane Louise Jordan? (Who really *would* be worrying).

Ah yes! So I am. Josie was in the Broom Cupboard. My bad.

I've always thought a spoof regional news programme could be amusing if it was done well. Channel 4 made an attempt at it about five years ago in Focus North (with obvious influences from Calendar and Look North), but it wasn't all that funny sadly.

I'm actually surprised there was no 'regional news' as part of The Day Today. I'm sure Chris Morris could have done a brilliant job of it.

it wasn’t side-splittingly funny i grant you, but iirc it was only ever shown on 4later - so must have been on a miniscule budget. with a little more put into it i think it could have proved quite successful

I liked Focus North, the episode where it was from the future where Yorkshire had gained indepenence and then launched itself into space was interesting. Especially saving "the important bits" of the Shona (tits and arse).

The map of Britain with the massive Yorkshire was probably the funniest thing in the whole show.

Fair point. I'd forgotten the bloke from the old DFS adverts was in it as well. The sad thing is I could see a regional news programme employing him as their new 'star presenter'.

Has anybody got any video clips of Focus North, I seem to recall it being very true to life (to a point). I think it has the big possibility to do well, with the current fame of Peter Kay, I'm suprised he hasn't done one actually!
