I though the advert was very dull as, I know that people feel nostalgic but, a boy with a loaf of Brown Bread running around a bunch of council houses is not exactly a eye-catching advert. Of course for our older generations it will remind them of their war expieriences, I should know as my own Grandfather first thing he said when he watched the advert was "that takes me back". Overall I don't like it but no doubt that you lot will praise its visual qualities. Even if I liked that Brown-Loaf-Boy I say the advert was still ruined by his voice at the end. Also I believe the endcap should have a clearer Hovis logo. All in All it was a load of excriments.

I quite liked the advert. If you missed it, it'll be available soon here!

I thought it was good. I did think it was all going to be based in wartime but the boy ran through the decades which was a nice touch.

The boy sounded a bit chavvy at the end, it kind of ruined the whole thing. I loved the part with Churchill's speech, followed by the Spitfire Smile

Remember that TV-am was, as GMTV is, a seperate channel to ITV and forms a seperate Channel 3 licence from OFCOM to produce 'breakfast television'..

You know that, I know that, most of the population doesn't. if The Mirror wants to paint the impression TV-AM was a programme on ITV as most of the public see it then that's their problem.

Anyway the new ad's pretty good. Might get irksome if its gets aired in its entirety on every occasion its been booked for, glad it'll be a cut-down version for other transmissions. Whether it'll go down in history as the 1973 Hovis advert has done remains to be seen.

that's a briliant ad, and comming from somebody who usually avoids them at all costs.

like the way his clothes change as he travels through the different moments in british history which are fun to spot

titanic 1912
women's vote 1917
first world war call up 1918
2nd world war bomb site 1940s
ve day 1945
England world cup win 1966
imigration 1970's
miners strike 1984
new millennium 2000

very good

Actually it was the Suffragettes campaigning for the right for women to vote.
Women won the right to vote in 1918 for those aged over 30, and 1928 for the same rights to vote as men.

I agree. I saw it in the cinema last night, and was blown away. It's a very nostalgic, epic advert. It's lovely.

Epic, big, nice, well thought... but nothing to do with the product whatsoever! Laughing

Was an odd birthday to pick to launch a brand new large campaign, 122nd. And by looks of it, this 'new' campaign isn't all that new, it's still a boy bringing his mum the loaf of bread she's nagged him to get.

Oh, and seeing the kid only had one word to say, pick a kid who doesn't sound as dull as dishwater!!!

So yeah, nice, but pointless...

I'd agree with that assessment, it's nice they made the effort. Shame we couldn't have Claude Greengrass as a baker again Wink

That is quite a nice advert.

Were the "Woolworths" Christmas adverts on ITV not longer?

I agree with MalcyB that the Woolworths ads from the 70s/80s were legendary for their length and often spanned the entire break, which must have been around 3 minutes.
