Longest TV Ad Premiers tomorrow

Premier Foods are celebrating 122 years of Hovis bread tomorrow in an advert which is scheduled to be broadcast for the first time during Coronation Street on ITV1.

The advert, showing 122 years of Hovis, is 122 seconds long and is the longest TV ad ever broadcast on TV (excluding 'infomercials').

Hovis have paid £33m for the new advertising campaign which features one 122-second advert, a 120-second version and a 90-second version.

I'm sure I remember a three-and-a-half minute ad years back, taking up the whole ad break during Corrie one time (STV region) that was actually listed in TV listings for that day.

It's the longest ad on ITV.

That doesn't include PIFs and infomercials.

Define "infomercials" for the purpose. I can't remember what it was for, just the bizarreness of such a long ad - but it was a long ad , not a shopping channel thing.

What about that Mccain Chip ad?

The McCain ad with Valerie Singleton was definately a lot longer than what this is going to be.

I do vaguely remember a Fairy or Ariel advert years ago which took up a whole ad break once which would be 3 minutes.

And wasn't the recent Honda ad on Channel 4 a few months ago around 2 minutes?

I think we've established beyond reasonable doubt that whoever told steddenm that a mere 2 minutes 2 seconds was the longest ad ever, is a lying ****.
