Wasn't the year Steve won X Factor, the same year as Band Aid 20 so it got moved a week (or the final was the day before the Xmas No 1 was being announced) later.
I think the best concession would be to move it forward a week, so let it hit the inevitable number one slot a week earlier, and then if it clings on to claim the Christmas number one at least it's doing so on merit more than hype.
Really though Sony are laughing all the way to the bank considering they've got not one, not two, put three of their artists in the top 40 with the same tune.
I bought Geraldine's Christmas song yesterday and it's inevitably completely stuck in my head.
As a song the instrumentation is fab and it's such a catchy tune. And I don't mind supporting Peter Kay if it's for the NSPCC. Because it doesn't feel like Peter Kay, it feels like someone else entirely.
