Peter Kay's Britain's Got An Extra Pop Factor And Then Some 2+1
Friday 19th December: 9:00PM

A follow up to Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and is a retrospective companion piece. Presented by Ben Shepherd, this one-hour spoof programme features a countdown of the best performances from the series as voted by the 'viewers', and exclusive interviews with this year's winner Geraldine McQueen, as well the chance to hear her new Christmas single Once Upon a Christmas Song. There are more auditions, more music, plus a few surprises.

The Christmas season also includes Peter Kay: Raider of the Pop Charts , a two part documentary that reveals the story behind Peter Kay's numerous chart successes. It takes a unique look behind the scenes of all three of his iconic pop videos, featuring artists such as Texas and The Proclaimers, as well as his more recent hit with Geraldine's The Winner's Song and her soon-to-be-released Christmas single. There will also be another chance to see the full-length version of Britain's Got the Pop Factor... plus a video exclusive on Channel 4 of Geraldine's Christmas single.

That dig at Woolworths just now (out now at Woolworths, while shops last) was a bit insensitive I feel.

Peter Kay: Raider of the Pop Charts is mentioned on the Channel 4 website, but it doesn't say when it will be on:

Like that Christmas logo, why don't they just use it in the break flashes.

Insensitive maybe, but the line of the night - and if the Daily Mail start a campaign against that then what a sad world we live in.

And no doubt a Geraldine DVD will be out next Christmas. Come on Peter!! Where's your new material??

The "Britain's Got The Pop Factor..." show was good, as was the Winners Song single but I have an uncanny feeling Peter Kay is going to carry on milking this for many more months to come like everything else.

Indeed, ok so the Pop Factor show was funny as are the singles

But is the Geraldine character on it's own funny, when she/he appears as a guest on chat shows/magazine programmes just to chat?

Is she/he appearing on programmes with the whole nervous 'I can't believe I'm actually on TV' act, really a good use of Peter Kay's talents?

Last nights show suffered because it was too much about Geraldine. In the original R Wayne and 2 Up 2 Down kind of made the show, and their relative absence last night didn't do the show any favours at all.

Really!? I'm glad I didn't watch if that was as funny as it got.

I think it suffered from having very little new material. I found it interesting because we got to see some extra footage that didn't make it in to the original programme but I didn't find it that funny and thats coming from someone who thought the first show was the funniest show of the year.

I agree - more like a DVD extra than a programme in it's own right.

And choosing someone as cheesy as Ben Shepherd to host just didn't work - Cat Deeley pulled the role of perfectly with the main show, but it was just Ben being Ben last night.

And then some of the musical acts were ones seen in the original show, albeit briefly.

I don't think you're far wrong there Laughing I suppose the reason he milks things, is because he has a very large and loyal fanbase who buy into it-- making hay while the sun shines.

Wouldn't surprise me if Geraldine is around a few more months - I'm sure a Comic Relief single is inevitable.
