That and the royalties from the following script book as well which went mostly -if not all - to Kay. It was certainly only his name on the cover

'That Peter Kay Thing' & 'Phoenix Nights' co-written With Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice were both brilliant. 'Max & Paddy' without their involvement was not.

...because Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice were not starring with Kay in the show. Makes no difference to the writing imo.

Despite it being retrospectively renamed 'Peter Kay's Pheonix Nights' it was written by the 3 of them. IIRC the reason that Spikey and Fitzmaurice fell out with Kay was over that prefix

I know it was written by all 3 of them. What I'm basically saying is, I don't reckon people would complain about the "writing" if Spikey and Fitzmaurice also starred alongside Kay in Max & Paddy. Personally, I didn't see much difference between Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy only the absence of Spikey and Fitzmaurice starring in the actual show.

In my opinion Max & Paddy was edging on the cruder side of the format, whereas a lot of Phoenix Nights was more family orientated comedy... Peter Kay's single work has always been slightly adult based, compared to Spikey's wider audience. Hence the earlier product being more popular in the long run, and more requested for a comeback.

I like how in the video the news reporter is from ITV News. Probably as Channel 4 News wouldn't want to be seen as reporting on such frivolous crap such as a reality show winner in a town, which ITV would lap up Razz

I think you'll find that was Lucy Meacock who's probably best known for being on a certain ITV regional news programme for the North West.

You mean Lucy "Granada Reports-Granada Tonight-Granada Reports-ITVGranada Reports- and casually ITV News" Meacock

Does anyone have any idea how Once Upon a Christmas Song is going in the charts? I know nothing is announced til Sunday but I was wondering if there's a preview or something available somewhere. In all honesty, I'm just praying that it kicks X Factor up the arse and reaches Number 1.

I think it's going to struggle to reach the Top 10 at the moment, currently 11 at the moment on itunes after lingering at about 25 earlier this week. Will probably change after the new episode of pop factor on friday, but I think he'll be lucky to break the Top 5 come Sunday.

Well, in my humble opinion, that Peter Kay programme was awful. Not to my taste one bit.

But I absolutely LOVE that Christmas song. Its not left my head since I heard it.

Its a Gary Barlow song, right?

Indeed, it is.

It's looking like there's going to be at least 3 different versions of Hallelujah in the Top 10.
