LOL - you compare him to that joke Ricky Gervais. He's only got two over-rated sitcoms (based on his own ego!) to his name, a couple of flop movies and a lifetime of guest appearances on Jonathan Ross.
That's your opinion if you don't like his work (you're forgetting his stand up, radio shows, books and podcasts), but the big difference is that not only is he prolific with his output he is very concious about keeping control over the product that he puts out to retain artistic credability. You didn't see any 'You aving a larf' t-shirts or Staplers in Jelly being flogged at his gigs! This was one of the points behind the second series of Extras... one episode even featured people wearing 'Garlic Bread' t-shirts
If all the merchandising is not Peter Kay's idea then he really needs to get some control over it.
No, I would have no problem with a new series of it if it was any good. I'd have loved a series 3 of Pheonix Nights (too much water under the bridge now though, it would be a bad thing to ressurect now)

That I believe was Peter Kay's choice. It was a fantastic series IMO and a shame it didn't continue, but I guess if it had you'd be complaining he was milking the characters further.

...because Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice were not starring with Kay in the show. Makes no difference to the writing imo.

'That Peter Kay Thing' & 'Phoenix Nights' co-written With Dave Spikey and Neil Fitzmaurice were both brilliant. 'Max & Paddy' without their involvement was not.

I think you'll find that was Lucy Meacock who's probably best known for being on a certain ITV regional news programme for the North West.

I like how in the video the news reporter is from ITV News. Probably as Channel 4 News wouldn't want to be seen as reporting on such frivolous crap such as a reality show winner in a town, which ITV would lap up

The numbers are ones that are set aside for TV/film.

It does if they were writing it - which was the point!

Despite it being retrospectively renamed 'Peter Kay's Pheonix Nights' it was written by the 3 of them. IIRC the reason that Spikey and Fitzmaurice fell out with Kay was over that prefix
