Well, come on. It's got disaster written all over it. The name, I mean.

The new look would be OK without the pointless 'let's get with the kids' txt msgng fetish.

Friad you're wrong. LDN stands for London. it's that simple. It's the new 'identifier' for the BBC London output on Online, Radio and TV. The three services are 'BBC London News'. 'BBC London Online' and 'BBC London 94.9', and LDN will be used across all three.

Perhaps it's L ondon D aily N ews?

I wonder how the presenters will pronounce the name:

(1) 'London' (recognising it as some sort of acceptible shorthand)
(2) 'L D N' (pause between each letter)
(3) 'Ludun' (which is what it would sound like trying to read LDN as if it were a word)

So London Live is definitely on the way out? That must make it the first BBC radio station to have been called four different things over the years. I think it's a bit old hat to call it BBC London 94.9 though, considering it's also available on DAB and over the internet.  They'd be better off reverting to BBC Radio London...or even GLR...

We should think ourselves lucky that we don't live in the USA, we'd have this everywhere.

FOX 35 - WOFL

Pardon?

Here's a translation...

W = East Coast (W does not mean West Coast...)
O = Orlando (well, obviously)
FL = Florida (you see?)

I'm just waiting for BBC MNCHSTR - do you think they'll be able to afford fish?
