OK - here's a question - would it be possible (or more likely) in this weather for me to be able to pick up other channels from other regions?
I just want to know if it's worth the bother of scanning through on my manual tuning TV?
Thanks

It sure is possible!!
I've been getting interference on channel in the last week or two, from other transmitters, and this is only with a set-top aerial! Trouble is, I don't want to pick these signals up, as they make funny lines appear
Have a tune around on your tv at night and see what you get. The time around a thunderstorm is good, and we are going to be having one around Thursday time IIRC.
Of course, have a go at finding stuff. About a year ago, I found a channel called Avro 6 or 9 (can anyone confirm which country this is, I think it is Dutch) - and that was with my set top arial on a warm sunny day like this!
By the way it is DX not RX. I am sure James Ison will give you plenty of advice - he's the man for this kind of stuff!

Right - I'll have a go later then.

I remember being in the car somewhere, and conveniently had my pocket TV with me and was picking up some channels that were dutch or something.
I live in East Midlands, and receive signals mainly from the Waltham transmitter. Is it possible to receive other channels from where I am? I have BBC ONE, BBC TWO, ITV (Carlton Central - would prefer LWT!), Channel 4 and Channel 5 (poor reception). Cheers
I get the usual lot. But I stay in the grampian region and get scottish to a certain level. The sound comes through perfectly but the picture isn't so good. Mostly snow but you can pick out what's on.
(Most of the time the same programs are on. And even the same news stories at the same time.)

Obviously it depends where in the East Midlands, but you may be able to get Anglia transmissions with a decent aerial in the south of that area, or get Yorkshire in other places.
Best way it to look at aerials on houses around you, if some point different ways to yours, then there you go!
There is a site which predicts the channels you may be able to receive. Go to http://www.wolfbane.com/cgi-bin/tva.exe? , type in your OS reference (which can be found at the site), and bingo!
