Must say the few elements which did seem to be added as part of the "directors cut" (I don't remember the photos in the opening sequence the first time round) probably detracted rather than added to it, so I think the host broadcaster (one of the Scandanavian broadcasters for the Opening Ceremony - Finland I think) made the right call there, however much it might have upset Danny Boyle.

They managed to fix a few things in the OBS coverage/events management area.

When the 7 young athletes ran round taking turns to hold the Olympic Flame that Sir Steve Redgrave ran in with, the stadium commentators got the names totally out of sync. They removed that bit of audio entirely in the directors cut, and instead used captions...

They also did something to cover the most obvious opening ceremony glitch - which was Kenneth Branagh standing in the area surrounded by cameras, which presumably were supposed to flash and timeslice?

They also fixed the rather annoying vertical timing error that seemed to be present on all the content cut by Done and Dusted in their truck, but that wasn't present on the stuff cut by OBS (i.e. the OBS stuff didn't have a black bar at the top live, but the D&D stuff did...)

They also fixed Paul Mccartney's timing error on Hey Jude.

Much talk about "Legacy" this weekend so what do you think the legacy for broadcasting has been.

We do take it for granted the coverage of things like the Swimming and Rowing World Championships which before London won the bid was pretty much non-existent - but week in week out I'm not sure we're seeing more Olympic sport on TV at all - and pretty much none of it is outside the BBC.

Also viewers don't seem to be lapping it up as much as I thought they might, with less than 4m watching the athletics last night on BBC1. There might be more interest in the World Championships where there is more at stake, but that remains to be seen.

P.S. Other than perhaps the London Marathon is this the first time the BBC have used Paula Radcliffe as a pundit. Andrew Cotter in the commentary box too.

I'm not sure the legacy was about broadcasters broadcasting more Sport, was it? I mean obviously the profile of the Paralympic sports has been raised considerably (from almost 0), it'll be interesting to see how the Winter Games do for Channel 4 next year.

But in any case I thought the 'legacy' was about trying to get people in to sports, not watching? I dunno. I guess it's down to interpretation somewhat.

There were also quite a few minor improved shot choices which wouldn't have especially stood out but meant that, for example, the full Emily Davison dance by the suffragettes was seen, 'James Bond' and 'The Queen' were followed for much longer after their parachute jump rather than quickly disappearing and leaving an long empty shot of the stadium, and Tim Berners-Lee's "This is for everyone" message was able to be fully read on the stadium LEDs.

I'm sure she has done some 'track' events earlier this year

The shots of James Bond in the helicopter were also graded to match the darkness in the stadium - previously when they were cut to they had the same daylight as in the rest of the "Happy and Glorious" film.

Much more subtle but there is also a shot of the TARDIS cut in during the Thanks Tim section (in the 70s bit - ironically from the 1996 TV Movie!). On the night you heard it but didn't see it.

Yes - noticed that. They could cut the audio from the stadium announcers but not from Trevor Nelson then!

Only dodgy cut I saw was the oaths from the athletes, which cut straight from Steve Redgrave with the flame to Sarah Stevenson randomly reading the oath, when in reality we had a nice wide shot of them being raised into the stadium.

At the end of the coverage yesterday Gabby promoted today's events, I almost thought she was going to mention how they were on Channel 4, but no, the coverage is available on Five Live. I thought with the Olympics/Paralympics they'd started acknowledging each other a bit.

Agreed, but the BBC have another sporting event this afternoon (Euro 2013 Final) so other channel promotion would perhaps not have been appreciated by the BBC Sports team. It's not as if the vast number of those watching wouldn't know the channel switch for today anyway, a fact that some post Olympics 2012m Pre Paralympics was a surprise to many un-informed, and deserved promotion at that time.

Bit daft of C4 not to reuse the 2012 Paralympics ident in what is one of the few occasions where they can use it without it not making sense! At least they gave us another run of those brilliant opening titles.

They seem to be messing up their links into the breaks etc. - not quite Ortis Deely levels but it's not as slick as it should be this afternoon.

It's quite interesting how he got excited about being in the 'same studio' as Tyson Gay and the teasers into Oscar Pistorius. I need not say any more!

So you expected him to be a clairvoyant?
