Thought I'd start a separate threat for discussion of coverage of next weekend's Olympic anniversary games so discussion is not lost amongst other posts in the generic Sport thread.

Coverage will be shared between BBC One and BBC Two on 26th July with coverage on 27th July solely on BBC One. Channel 4 will show the final day of events on the 28th.

Would be interesting to see if either broadcaster reuses the titles from last year's coverage. Particularly as the BBC will be doing the coverage under their "Athletics" branding.

The BBC might but I suspect C4 will use the titles they're using for the IPC World Champs.

Not seen a BBC promo yet but C4's promo is very good:

Well it's just the annual London Grand Prix essentially which has moved from Crystal Palace to the Olympic Stadium and been rebranded, so I'm quite sure the BBC will use the Athletics titles. I can't see why the multi sport Olympic titles, featuring Boxing, Swimming, Rowing etc would be used.

They did say at the end of the athletics on Friday that it would be a celebration of the whole games and feature lots of clips of other moments from the Olympics.

Can't believe it's a year - absolutely flown by.

The BBC Olympics titles may well get an airing on BBC Three next Saturday evening, for the Opening Ceremony directors cut.

I really do hope they use the opportunity to reflect on the Games as a whole, rather than just the athletics. Although I suppose rights issues may be a problem.

I'm looking forward to getting back into the Olympic Stadium myself next Saturday . . . wonderful memories.

They don't seem to have any problems using clips as and when they're required - both within shows and on the website.

Surprised there isn't more on over the next couple of weeks to mark it - apart from this event, the BBC3 airing of the Opening Ceremony and Inspire the only other things I can see scheduled is a Newsround special and a BBC2 documentary about Thomas Hetherwick, the designer of the Olympic Cauldron.

It's not going to be an easy balance for the BBC. They will be trying to balance an Olympic review/reflection with covering a high profile Diamond League event shortly before the World Championships

I guess that both the BBC and C4 will be using the same facilities provider or indie producer to keep costs down?

Heard "First Steps" very faintly in the background being used while Gaby was running through tonight's schedule.

If you're talking about the schedule given right at the start it was music from the Opening Ceremony not First Steps.

Oh wait I take it back, you're right the later schedule did use it! Although I only seemed to be a few seconds worth!

It was used a couple of times - forgotten how good that theme was actually as it kind of got overshadowed in the end by C4's efforts.

Here's the highlights montage:
