I missed all of them apart from Channel 4 - I'm sure someone will put them up on YouTube.
Presumably Channel 5 will stay around for a while longer.

Yes - Channel 5 won't disappear until the morning after DSO as it comes from Croydon.

I assume the engineers at CP aren't poker fans - poor old C4 was the only channel they didn't wait for a junction to pull the plug!
Ah well... shouldn't be too long and ITV1 will be where BBC2 was... Don't think they've started switching off the Freeview channels yet though.

I don't know about you, but I was just thinking it would have been marvellous to have had Duncan in vision during his final speech on BBC2 analogue, complete with a candle recreating this historic moment: http://www.tv-ark.org.uk/mivana/mediaplayer.php?id=39bea92c9d292315e6dd2625360fe70a&media=bbc2_opening_night_t1172&type=mp4 - and on the blowing out of the candle, the signal would be cut.
OK - I think I need my bed now!

Hopefully the clever people of this thread will no doubt be able to answer my somewhat idiotic questions.
Why is the London DSO being done in 2 parts? Is there any particular reason for this? Has this been the case for previous switchovers?
Also why does ITV1 take BBC2's place on analouge for these next 2 weeks between the DSO dates?
Thanks in advance.

All the DSOs, except curiously the Channel Islands, have been/will be done in two stages.
I've never seen an official explanation why. It could be to give a final warning to digital 'refusenicks', by removing BBC 2 first, they don't lose everything in one hit, and have 14 final days to get a box. It could also be to lessen the load on the engineering teams, some main transmitters have a few dozen relays, these all need to convert on DSO 1 and 2 too.
As for ITV taking BBC 2's place. right, hold on tight:-
It's been decreed that BBC 2 analogue is always the service to vanish at DSO 1, and be replaced by a high power version of the BBC mux.
Ideally, the same UHF allocation that BBC 2 occupied, is used for the new BBC Mux.
However, Ofcom are selling off some existing UHF TV allocations for 4G and other (not decided) use.
The allocations being sold off are Ch 31-37, and 61-68.
Crystal Palace carried BBC 2 analogue on UHF Ch 33.
The new BBC Mux was allocated UHF Ch 23, where ITV was. So, last night ITV analogue moved to Ch 33, and the BBC Mux launched on Ch 23.
It's happened at other (but not all sites) and it's not nessearily ITV that swaps, sometimes it's BBC1, or C4.
Depends upon the allocated frequencies assigned at a particular site.
