"Crystal Palace started transmitting pictures and sound to millions of people more than 50 years ago. But in those days, Britain had just one telly channel. It was not known as BBC1 or even BBC. It was called, simply, ‘Television’."

No, it was called the BBC, wasn't it? The BBC Television Service.

FWIW I asked Arqiva via their Switchover Night page whether the switching off of the analogue transmitters would be filmed and they have confirmed it will be (probably because they've got Mark Thompson throwing the switch!)

It's nice to see The Mail agree with me (for once) on why CP's switchover is so important.... although I did forget the Royal Family Rolling Eyes

DigitalSpy users told to expect something big on C4 at 00:05 - then a quick hop over to BBC1 just before 00:10.

If it's what I think it is, it's going to be a really nice finale for C4 analogue,

It's the 1980s test card!! Amazing Very Happy

Thought it had gone wrong for a moment - we lost it in the middle of a trailer, which seemed a very underwhelming end, but after a few gliches it came back and went to...EPT-1, is it?

BBC One now!

Blimey - Mark Thompson a bit trigger happy it would seem - didn't even let the credits end!

Wonderful announcement from BBC1 there...immediately cut to static the moment the show finished.
