I wish those London (Carlton/LWT) announcers would stop speaking up at a network level.
Especially that 'w--ww' women and that other loud man who works on Carlton

And why are they so loud and forceful, are all programmes on Carlton announced in this way?

I think they should let local announcers deal with the announcing, and keep off the Network feed.
Anyone agree/disagree?
(Do it take it that UTV and Scottish viewers also get these London voices forced upon them?)

Going off topic...
Those green website graphics which appear after Emmerdale?
Is it a Leeds based thing, a GMG thing, or do all regions show it?

The London announcers are awful - they all sound so camp!

Actually a funny thing happened this afternoon on ITV1.  They messed up the junction to ITN for the afternoon headlines.  We got the test card on screen with the words 'ITN Digital'.  They then switched to an ITV1 caption that read 'ITV News Headlines' and the local announcer said that they were having technical difficulties, and as soon as they finished talking, in came the BOOMING voice of a London announcer to tell us the exact same thing.

Oh and those web graphics are awful, I have a feeling they may only be on GMG stations ?  I think it say's w w w a lot of times, but they must have been knocked up by a work experience student at YTV.

i agree - it seems to be on the increase too, i dont remember a time of hearing so many booming voices telling us what to do.

i saw the fault on todays news summary at bout 3:05pm and i also saw the generic itv caption come on too.

wat i would like to know is, wether these people with loud voices poised over a microphone, are at carlton london, or LNN ? the reason i say that is, isnt the overnight announcer at LNN.

if they are at carlton london - did they just assume the role, or did itv network centre decide it would improve our viewing experience?

and one final thing, are 'tapes' of preogrammes played out from the company who made the? - eg. does a man at carlton central press play at the beggining of crossroads, or does it get sent to network centre to be played?

The 'w-ww' woman is a normal Carlton London announcer, so I assumed she just did the address after Crossroads as it was made by Carlton, and would be at Calrton London rather than LNN. I don't notice them though as my region is Carlton London.

I haven't seen the www graphics anywhere, but at the weekends, LWT put the website address for Emmerdale under the Yorkshire TV caption at the end quickly, whereas Carlton don't.

One LWT announcer I like is Mike Carson, who formerly worked on Melody FM 105.4 (now Magic)

I sometimes go down to London, and from seeing some of LWT's continuity junctions, I think that I have recognised some of the announcers' voices belonging to: Glenn Thompsett (whom I believe also works for the satellite channel TV Travel Shop), Andrea Simmonds (whom I believe has read the news on Radio 2), and I think, Trish Bertram (who does some voice-over work for some of ITV1's networked programme trails).

Yep, Glenn's done some announcements for a long while. I think he used to be at QVC once too.

Dave who is on another shooping channel used to do LWT announcements aswell I think.
