apart from 2011 when it was live on Channel 4 of course although I think Otis Daley may be having some nightmares still about that.

Jessica Ennis, goodnight.

Why was he so poor doing that when he'd done Live & Kicking previously? Too long not doing live telly?

ZDF's Das Aktuelle Sportstudio have taken the opportunity to move their entire show to the Olympic Park for the next two Saturdays. (Also I believe their regular studio in Mainz is getting a bit of an upgrade)

Didn't L&K have a certain amount of scripting and structuring? I imagine a Saturday morning magazine show and live sports coverage is very different.

There's a huge difference between presenting structured, reasonably scripted live kids TV and presenting much more free-flowing, frequently changing sport. Both are skilled jobs, and some skills will transfer, but being good at one doesn't automatically make you good at another.

There are some people who made the leap very successfully - like Jake Humphrey - but just because Jake was good at both doesn't mean everyone will be.

I just think his knowledge and research was not up to scratch. If you're going to be presenting athletics coverage, you've got to know what you're talking about.

His presenting skills generally were fine, when he was messing up it was when he was trying to relay information which in turn knocked his confidence.

I think it was his first live sports presenting gig, and evidently his last.

What sort of broadcasting facilities are made available for an event like this. Clearly it's not of the scale to have a broadcast centre but I suspect stadium space is fairly limited too - even half a dozen or so presentation areas is quite significant.

Do like the BBC presentation point though - glad the wonky table isn't in sight!

Liking the table, very in-keeping with the stadium.

Liking the London Stadium Lighting rig portrayed in the desk style.

Had BBC 2 stuck with the Opening Ceremony for just 2 minutes more they would have got to the end of it. Weird choice!

Right - question.
Who are ZDF paying to rent out one of the three studios/presentation areas for the two Saturday Sportstudio programmes?

BT Sport as it's their studio space? Timeline Television as they have the contract to provide studio technical facilities in the BTSport studios - or both?

Interesting shot of the Eurosport team including Edwards and Rutherford on the World Feed shown on BBC ONE. Awkward as Gabby Logan had advised viewers that Rutherford 'wasn't in the stadium due to injury' earlier in the session.
