this reminds me of when the new bbc logo was revealed years ago. the daily mirror ran it on the front page and the whole world thought it was awful. and yet within a few years, after it was implemented so well on and off screen, people can't imagine the beeb using anything else.

the fact it was so bold and simplistic really set it apart from the itv companies and channel 4 at the time. the london games logo really quite rightly stands apart from the other winter/summer games logos.

i think we should wait to see the implementation before we denounce it completely.
But the BBC logo was simple and effective and can adapt to its surroundings. The 2012 is fat, illegiable and only comes in four colours!

For once, tvmercia, I totally agree with you. It seems incredibly bizarre at the moment, but it could look fabulous by this time next year. I can actually see it being used as an frontcap into London 2012 coverage. It's very clever, and I didn't immediately like it, but it could get better.

But... what is it? It's already been pointed out that could be a mugger, perhaps... the 0 could be a sliding set of lift doors after a dreadful accident, and the 2, 1 and 2 could be different interpretations of the escalator at the Edgeware Road tube station.

They couldv'e at least used a distinctly 'British' font in the 'london' bit though. Like Gill Sans or the one used on Tube maps. And we're British, so, to be grammatically correct, as 'London' is a proper noun, the first letter must be capitalised.

So there. Ha.

Nini, either you swallowed the marketing-speak of LOCOG, or one of the ectasy tablets supplied to the designer, either way you are wrong.

Stu, shut up. You just sound a complete p**** the way you go on at those who think it has potential.

That post is so confusing I don't know how to reply, I think I'll just make a low pitched humming sound,

Not too fond of the logo myself, looks like some sort of 80's Saturday morning kid's show logo. Doesn;t bother me much though, not that interested in the olympics myself.

Someone on the BBC news site has described it as Lisa Simpson giving oral.

I really wish I hadn't read that comment. It *does* look like that.

Thats good. The official one cost £400,000. I reckon you should let them have it for £200,000 Laughing

Looking at their current logo, they could have it for free...

Anything but that pink broken pavement pattern!

They should go for something more curved - the current one is just too wooden - I hate it.
