. . . in saying that Northern Ireland is in the UK of which London is the capital . . .
No it isn't. London is the capital city of England. The UK has three other capital cities, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast.
Yes, but London is the overall capital of the UK.

If we are taliking about the UK as one collective then London is the capital. Period.
I did not state that the capital of Scotland, or NI, or Wales is London, but the UK capital is London.

Says who? You cannot state that there is a group of four different nations and claim that the capital of one is also the caital of the others as well.

Yes, but when group together, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Island, to become the UK, London becomes capital of the entire country known as the United Kingdom.

Fair enough.
Indeed rather muted emotions from the returning team.
In terms of news coverage - this week reminds me of the week the election was announced, so many stories, that had they happened sperately would have led the bulletins, but because of one huge story dominating, the other stories have had very little air time.

WRONG. The United Kingdom is NOT a country. It is an island consisting of four countries, London is NOT the overall
capital city of the United Kingdom. It never has been, nor will it ever will be. London is the capital city of England ONLY.
Anyone that says otherwise is 100% wrong. End of story. Full stop.

Nope. London is offically recognised capital of the United Kingdom, as well as capital of England.

London is offically recognised capital of the United Kingdom, as well as capital of England.
Just because something is "officially recognised", that doesn't mean it's an actual fact. The year 2000 was "officially
recognised" as the start of the 21st Century, despite the fact that the year 2001 was the real start of the 21st Century.
I stand by what I said before. London is the capital city of England only. It is a geographical fact
