Serves bloomin' Chirac right for being so rude about our food.

Presumably the French team will have to go home every night during the games, so they can have a decent dinner.

They weren't alone. The whole of the BBC website appeared to be unavailable just after the announcement.

As for the TV coverage, did anyone else think the whole thing had an air of the Eurovision Song contest? There were the cheap-looking titles, the male/female presenters with dodgy accents, the 'postcards' of each city, a random ugly singing act... although of course we won. Wink

Fantastic use of idents from the BBC in the past hour; following neighbours there was the 'breakdance' ident, and going into the BBC News special there was the 'crowd' (sorry I don't know the correct names for he idents).

ROFL!!! Now you mention it, it makes perfect sense.

Denise Lewis jumping incredibly high in the air and Ken Livingstone's standing still did make me laugh.

Great coverage all round - I thought Barry Davies was going to break down and Kay Burley's true enthusiasm for the whole thing came across on air wonderfully. ITV were a bit underwhelming when the result was announced but Alastair Stewart had some of the best interviews - very personal and quick off the mark.

I'm not one (if anyone has read my previous posts) to complain about London centric news. But there will be plenty of coverage of this over the coming years, up here we seem to be having marches, riots and a G8 summit. Virtually no mention on N24 I've seen for a while.

Yes this isbig news/good news but a a little bit about the G8 marches demonstrations would be good.

Are you sure these figures are correct? The BBC were just stating that London was almost eliminated in the third round.

Yes, it was working earlier, albeit very slowly. I think the site completely fell over just after 12:46.

Yes, the whole thing in Singapore did look a bit cheap, especially with it being held in, of all places, a shopping centre. One would have expected it to be held in a posh hotel or something, but no.

Erm... think you might have missed something, you know.
