I quite like that ident. The best ident I've seen so far from the 'Local' channels methinks. Simple yet polished. Smile

I'd be very surprised if that isn't an After Effects template they've bought. Still, as I've said before, I'd rather that than some of the idents we've seen on here.

Looks like they've padded this VT report, but not bad...

London Live is on Sky 117 as well, along with STV Glasgow...

No - London Live is and IIRC STV Glasgow too.

It's interesting that there are regional patterns with how some of the licenses were awarded. The most obvious is STV getting the Glasgow and Edinburgh licenses. YourTV getting both Manchester and the Preston/Blackpool license is very Granadaland, whilst 'Made in' get both Cardiff and Bristol, which is classic TWW stuff.

Liverpool-based Bay TV are also slated to get the Clywd and Gwynedd licenses. One wonders if creating these geographic blocks is insurance, in order to allow rationalisation of areas, if they turn out not to be sustainable on their own. Certainly, I can see the three Bay TVs essentially making a network, Liverpool being the key station, possibly with most if not all non-news programming being the same output. Long term ,the smaller stations could very well become little more than repeater stations.

I notice that there is a Bay TV Swansea too but actual Bay TV only has a 10% share in it; the rest being a mostly local consortium. I assume this station will essentially be independent though closely affiliated to the Liverpool station.

It'll all be very interesting, seeing how this local TV project pans out.

I agree it is interesting that there does seem to be some sort of regional pattern. I also find Liverpool being given to the same contractor as some Welsh franchises instead of the same people as Manchester etc interesting too. Not sure if YourTV bid for Liverpool too? If YourTV had won the Liverpool franchise, I wonder if any network production would have been split between the two cities or just Manchester (as Granada mostly did before them?).

YourTV did bid. I think the presence of a strong local bid did it, plus, having yet another 'local' TV station from Manchester would've left us rather exasperated down this end of the M62.

Liverpool had a good 12 year run with Granada News and that was it, shame really for the expense they went to of kitting out a Liverpool studio and getting everybody down there.

I'm glad to see Bay TV being awarded the licence for Liverpool and not also for Manchester, cities neglected by the BBC and ITV need strong stations like these to boost the local TV concept. Although I believe the last Channel One station to close was indeed, Liverpool.

I'm amazed where I live in Warrington I can get Bay TV on Channel 8, where as relatives who live 1 mile away get no Local TV and others who live 3-6 miles away get the Manchester Local TV MUX, the art and complexity of the Winter Hill transmitter.

Agree it's good that Manchester and Liverpool have different broadcasters, but the Wrexham/Mold franchise also run by Bay TV Liverpool in it's provisional listings mainly was "As Bay TV Liverpool", which itself was mainly Euronews and Teleshopping IIRC.
