What are the names of the other regional parlimentary programmes & their current affairs coyunter parts?Confused
e.g. North Westminster
Close Up North (West)
**Semi related - Close Up North (West) also still uses the old titles introduced to all NW programmes pre Corporate.

I preferred M@W it had history but had gone modern and the purple looked nice. But ah well, since I only ever watch it when there is nothing else on(and lets face it early sunday afternoon there rarely is!) so i'll live.

Interesting to see that a number of regions have relaunched their Sunday parly shows.

I doubt you will see a new look on any Thursday evening BBC Two documentary shows though. I hear a rumour that they will stop at Christmas, and be replaced with a BBC ONE show, of a more consumery, magaziney style.

I think this is partially to cope with the fact that BBC Two does not carry regional variations in England on DTT or DCab, nor will it on DSat when BBC One variations will be. (Though with the interactive solution used for DSat on BBC One it is not clear whether all regional variations will eventually be carried... It may be that Breakfast opts aren't for example?)

these three all share the same names for theier parliamentary and documentary shows (are they the same) if not were they the same in the past - as they were all part of the 'BBC North' region until 97 - was it just easier with continuity or something to have the same name all over?

Southern Eye is the BBC2 regional documentary. Southern Ways is a strand within South Today. The parliamentary programme used to be South Of Westminster, but has just been retitled South On Sunday.

Err - their parly shows do differ in name - Manchester's is 'NorthWestminster' not 'North of Westminster'

After looking on the regional websites in the North. The Close Up North programme strands have different titles - similar to the revamped regional news c.1997. This is so even though on Thursday 18/10/01 prior to the programme on the ident Martin Henfield said 'This is BBC 2 in the North' even though the ident said 'BBC TWO North West'!! He must have been thinking Close Up North!

Note that one docu and parly is shared between these two regions. So you could argue that the East Midlands didn't quite become a full separate region in 1991, as it only got it's own main news programme - East Midlands Today.

For what little other regional output there is (i.e. the docu and parly programmes), they share the Birmingham-based services. Hence why the voiceover in the opening titles of pre-generic EMT said 'From the BBC's East Midlands News Centre...' (or something like that). Because BBC Nottingham basically exists just for the regional news, and not also other regional shows.

However in only the most recent seasons of Midlands Report (Thurs docu), on the odd few weeks there has been different subject matter in the two different regions.
