BBC LDN's 'Metropol' has now decamped to the Millbank studios in Westminster - where before it shared the NSE studio. Probably a bit difficult to do proper parliamentary debate standing up, or on a comfy sofa in front of a fish tank!
The titles are re-working of BBC London News, and the music is different, but still very corporate with underlying BBC News/LDN traits.
All this LDN branding on a program that is also on digital-It's discusting! They should have there own 'Business Today' program for digital, and for Thursday at 7:30, 'Around The UK' a look at cities around the UK!
North of Westminster also got a brand new look today
- The title sequence no longer uses the 'Big N' logo, it is now a very jolly cartoon style sequence, without any hint of corporate look.
- The programme was done from the new part of the Look North studio, which is in corporate styling, but just like The Super League Show, it doesn't look like it.
There are images of politicians etc on the cream/orange coloured walls.
- The programme used to come from the 'tri-circular desk', It now comes from some non-corporate chairs and a non-corporate coffee table.
- The 'window' (aquired from Elstree) had a North of Westminster logo on it throughout, and could only be seen at the start/end/links etc when Presenter Peter Lugg was stood up.
- There wasn't a part of this edition done at the BBC's Westminster studios in London, but often there used to be
North Westminter looks excellent, a massive improvement on the old look. Would make a bit more sense if that arrow-shaped thing on the ident was actually pointing towards the North West and not the North East, though.
Rob, what is the music like? I take it it's just the generic music used for Westminster Live?
Yes, looks very nice indeed. I've never heard the 'sombre' titles before, they aren't exactly a music masterpiece.
I take it the style of the programme hasn't changed much, so I think I'll stick with Granada's Sunday Supplement, which is excellent BTW. Rob McHoweveryouspellit is a fantastic interviewer, he normally makes people feel very small. Funny to watch.
I usually watch On The Record, as I am very interested in politics, but I don't have time to watch NorthWestminster, as I usually have loads of work to do! This week I will watch Westminster Live or whatever is on at the moment on BBC TWO in the afternoon.

heres the new view point midlands - not bad really - seems as though the budget has increased! new desk, new chairs, new little coffe table things to put glass of water on, live O.B. (never had that on M@W), and 2 presenters - patrick in birmingham, and john in nottingham - though john only answers the phones etc. not too sure on the titles - but the music is ok (not a hint of the generic news/politics music in it?)
Well, I must say they appear to have done a good job on View Point Midlands. I was expecting just a rehash, but they really do make excellent use of the set there. I didn't catch any of the political programmes, but I will be setting the video for 5.30 on BBC Parliament, so I can inspect the new programmes in more detail.
