Perhaps, but it used to feature prominently on the backdrop behind Peter Lewis on LWT continuity.

So it was very much an LWT icon.

Indeed, it was seen on air a lot in the 70's and 80's including the following promos (taken from TV Ark)

At least it's not as much of a concrete monstrosity as some other Television Centre one could mention...! Laughing

It's always weird there, going into what looks on the outside to be a pretty standard-size office block and finding some pretty big TV studios.

Are the LWT blue white & orange stripes still around the building?

No, and they never were!

All you can really see are silvery plaques with the GR/N/D/ logo on them, and a few satellite dishes on the roof of the annexe to the right of the tower (looking at the front, i.e. from Upper Ground), one of which has "ITV SPORT" on it.

There is a ramp to the left of the tower marked "GMTV / Audience Entrance".

I take it you mean the ones inside, along the corridor walls with all the pictures on.

ITN was this week preparing to announce its proposed takeover of regional broadcaster London News Network, with journalists bracing themselves for possible job losses.

ITN and LNN owned by Granada and Carlton were due to meet journalists at 11am on Thursday to disclose details of the future of the 105-strong newsroom.

...

ITN would neither confirm nor deny the meeting was set to take place.

It has been confirmed that LNN will be moving to ITN's head quarters at 200 Gray's Inn Road.

LNN, just the London news operation, or LNN in total, including the ITV1 and ITV2 transmission operation and continuity announcers?

No use just throwing us the odd tit-bit. We need ALL the details, or don't you quite have them to hand as yet?

Very strong word circulating South Bank headquarters of a 'building sell-off' Granada accountants are working on the sums and reckon a central London site is costing 'too much money' Transmission can effectively be done in a much smaller and cheaper location. Technically, not a problem. Nigel Pickard (Head of ITV Programming) is promoting more Indie productions, so why bother with all that studio space?
More news, as they say, 'After the break'

I thought The London Studios were supposed to be a big earner for Granada? There'd be an outcry if they moved This Morning again -housewives and nightshift workers would march on the capital!

Yes, both of them, I expect.

I'd tend to believe Mr Stand. His record for correctness is one hundred percent up to now.
