I don't like Ian Wright. He is full of self importance and tries to undermine the girls who do seem to have some genuine chemistry. Critics of The ONE Show can eat their hats!

Ian should be replaced by a male Five News newsreader. I'm all for the show being light hearted but not to the point where it can't be taken seriously as a current affairs show which is the state it is currently in. It is by no means beyond repair or dead on arrival, they just need to use the format correctly and I'm sure it will be a hit but in its current state it is going to be axed by the end of the year.

Yes. It's the presenter mix that is holding this programme back (not the format). To survive beyond Christmas they need to ditch Ian Wright (the most expensive one I bet). Any generic male from 5 News could replace him. Melinda and Kate would then complement this journo better.

I agree. It isn't an appauling formula, I just hate the guy(ian). He mocks the girls behind their backs, looks around the studio, is rude, hard to understand, cocky, mouths off when girls are talking and over all is a waste of space and adds nothing to the show!

I thought Kate's interview with Peter Andre was good. Reggie Yates in studio next so will be interesting to see how they handle another grounp interview.

The studio is way too dark!! There doesn't seem to be any titles or theme tune, just onscreen straps. Quite poor from an editorial point of view.

They need someone like Matthew Wright, though I'd be devastated if he left The Wright Stuff. That is such a good programme. But they do need someone who can do both heavy and light material. Ian Wright just doesn't cut it.

I've watched parts of the programme, tonights was a lot better than the first show, but it is a programme that isn't serious enough to be considered current affairs. I think they've gone about the show in a strange way to make it more like an entertainment show in terms of style & presentation, but with the items being more current affairs.

The wright stuff may have an audience, but This Morning, The One Show & Liquid News all have/did have the ability to entertain & inform without a cheering crew. Don't get me wrong hearing the crew cheer was great on the Big Breakfast & for that type of programme, but I don't think they actually quite know what they want the programme to be.

It's a shame that they didn't go with the idea of using Matthew Wright, but I agree that it would be a shame to loose him from the wright stuff. Maybe Richard Bacon could be considered, I've found him very entertaining when filling in for Matthew & also filling in on Something For the Weekend.

Part of me thinks that the programme would have been better received if it was a sort of This Morning/Something For the Weekend style of programme with the reports and keeping the talking points about the news, add a guest & maybe a cookery item with new updates through the programme.

It's also a shame that the studio that they use is quite small for this type of programme for the fact that they couldn't create more than one area to use so that the presenters can be mixed around a bit rather than having all three on screen at the same time.

I am impressed by Kate, and I enjoy Melinda, but Ian Wright is a bit too shouty, hopefully he'll calm this down.

At a risk of getting a smacked wrist as I cross over to a news topic in the main forum, can I ask what has happened to the 5.30 five news bulletin, is this presented from the green screen in the same way as the updates, or does this come from the live at studio five studio?

Final point, I wonder why Five haven't made them use the Five logo within the programme logo, unless they want to see how the programme turns out.

Well, it's actually at 5 not 5.30 these days but I think this answers your question:

Of course due to Neighbours, sorry. It's interesting. I've just noticed this on the five news thread too, very interesting at how they must be constructing the backdrop removing the desk, adding the sofa & screen, removing the sofa & screen, deconstucting the backdrop & adding the desk for the two different shows.

I was channel hopping around 6.30pm and watched this for about ten seconds, and I couldn't stick anymore of it, I think three presenters behind a desk didn't seem right at all and Ian Wright seemed far too loud for my liking. I know people slag off The One Show for being too random at times, but at least they get the mix right, when they had a preview of what was coming on LFSF it all seemed a little too showbiz and 'And finally' stories.

I just don't rate Melinda she has NO credibilty it's when she starts to talk about Wayne Rolling Eyes as for Ian pretty much the same not sure about the other girl.

Five needs to get it's act together once and for all primetime is just utter rubbish ...CSI ,CSI and more of the same and as for Live From Sudio Five keep it. I preferred Family Affairs they shouldn't have axed it.

It is utter rubbish. Ian Wright cannot present a programme and get away with it and I think he's the weakest link in the whole shambles. It does feel a bit too much like RI:SE where they tried to be everything to everyone and pleased no-one in the process.

Although I think they risk going down this road, the format is by no means a failure. I rather like what they're trying to do but I just think who they've got at the helm is completely wrong. They need a credible male presenter with a bit of gravitas to even things out. I think Kate and Melinda could ultimately work on the programme. At least RI:SE had a straight man in the form of Mark Durden Smith. This programme just has an idiot speaking at you.

I would like to see some improvements because I genuinely want to see it work but I think its first impressions will be the finish of it and unless it does something quick to address the many problems then I wouldn't expect to see it around in the new year.

To go against the grain as it were, I actually liked what I saw (bar the seemingly obligatory govt health items), beats watching a frowning man for half an hour...

Tsk! at the 'nasty frowning man' Confused

If you like your news and current affairs liquidized into some form of 'Happy Meal', and then fed to you by a bunch of hyperactive presenters who look like they've just swallowed the producer's stash of ritalin...then Live from Studio Five is for you.

I suspect Five will move it from 6:30 to 7:00pm in an attempt to capture the entire audience of Cbeebies/CBBC when they closedown.

Maybe, but the idea of it staying where it is now is to stop the audience from switching over after the Neighbours/Home & Away hour. They've even cut the ads straight after H&A - so they aren't going to get a much better lead in at that time of day.
