An interesting feature in Broadcast by producer Adam Tandy on how they made it.

Our colleagues at BBC2 provided presentation facilities, some catchy music and also a plan to allow all four nations to have separate junction continuity from announcer Beccy Wright so that we had the same network voice throughout our programme. (Poor Beccy. Not sure what happened there.)

So the Nations did get bespoke continuity! Anyone know if that included the ident too?

I didn't get that bit. What would have been different?

You could also read it to mean that the four nations each got the separate junction continuity, singular, fed to them...

I'd have thought they meant the ident, I think it was only that and the credit voice over in the junction.

Sounds like she just recorded 3 versions for the nations and then presumably did England live. That's attention to detail, I assumed it didn't work as well outside England

Am I missing something? Why would she have to do different versions? Why would it not work as well outside England?

I suppose they didn't have to, they could have just used the same continuity that was going out in England. It's just a nice touch they did different versions

Because if they used their local announcers there'd have been a different voice introducing the programme as appeared in it. One of the things that made the fake fault more convincing was that it was the actual on duty announcer

I don't see that it's been confirmed that they did - the wording isn't very clear. And what would have been different, anyway, if the same CA was doing all of them? There's nothing nation-specific in what she says.

No we just have to assume that the plan came to fruition... until someone from outside England confirms

The same difference as the virtually every other continuity announcement they do Wink

Presumably she would have referred to "BBC Two Scotland" etc in those pre recorded announcements.

Well if it helps clear up some of the mystery, here's the intro to the show from BBC Two Wales HD the other night.

So yes it is exactly the same script, just with the appropriate nation name added in and all being read out by Beccy in London.
