I would imagine the hypocrisy of Live Earth and Al Gore's messianic complex might have something to do with it too

I know we all thought many people wouldn't be interested but usually people will watch any old rubbish if it is a big BBC1 event (see how Children in Need gets more viewers every year despite it being critcised on here)
An average of 2.7m isn't very good, it looks like most people were watching Wimbledon instead
