Did anyone manage to get home?

Last I heard - blankets were handed out at Hyde Park, so I guess not.

Nice to have BBC network continuity closing down for a change for those of us in Scotland - nice to hear an announcement with some personality, rather than the standard "I'm bored out my skull" BBC Scotland routine.

People saying it's better live, how do we know it is live, it may be 10 seconds delayed but they chose not to employ anyone to censor anything. The radio style time signal beeping 2pm at about 2.03pm was a bit strange as well!

I think it is VERY likely that the Hyde Park stuff was live - why bother to make life more complex by delaying it for no reason.

As for the opening at 1403 - I think the simple answer is that the "Pips" were part of the opening VT - which ran later than 1400?

Yes, if it had been delayed Big ben would have shown 2:00 and not 2:03

Loved the closedown/News 24 announcement at 3.20ish on BBC1, one of the best I've heard.

I thought Coldplay were great, but I would saythat cos I'm a big fan. Fix You is a quality song...

Amusing to see the subtitling last night, especially in the U.S; apparently the acts are "Lincoln"Park and "Conway" West. Very Happy

Looking in the papers this morning I didn't realise how close Jonathan's pod was to the stage. Only seemed to be about 5 portacabins away. They've obviously had good sound proofing!

I never saw much of the concert but is it true that Jonathan Ross's interviews were shown instead of the video clips that the crowd saw? That really is what Live 8 was all about, highlighting poverty, and it seems this was pushed to one side.

Pretty much!

Re: Ricky Gervais. Richard Curtis just said it wasn't the time to make gags out of the issue and the gag about Tony Blair and George Bush increasing aid was a cheap and inappropriate. Davina thought he was joking at first, but it didn't seem to be the case!
