Hi,

With all the events around the world, are all the feeds from that country being sent to London which then the BBC broadcasts to us? Also, is the actual Live 8 coverage seperate to the bits when they cut to Jonathan Ross, or the same?

Thank you

There are feeds from each location of the raw concert feed - and the BBC In London will be providing a clean feed of the Hyde Park and Eden concerts as part of this.

The Jonathan Ross, Jo Whiley and Fearne Cotton stuff will have been on the BBC One/Two feeds only and not have gone elsewhere. The Tape replays of other events we've seen in the UK will have been part of the BBC One/Two feeds as well and turned around.

So yes - there will have been core Hyde Park and Eden Project feeds globally - and local BBC One/Two presentation for us in the UK. (The BBC will have probably been providing both)

Jeez, cut back to Peter Kay. I don't want to see George Michael!! Peter's got one of the biggest reactions today!! Evil or Very Mad

Brilliant bit there with the crowd singing Amarillo - but of course they cut away from it! At least you can get live uninterrupted streaming on AOL!

How dare they interupt Peter Kay for bloody George Michael, I was enjoying that. Sad

Me too.

George Michael just said "they now have mics on the crowd"

They should have booked Peter Kay properly with Tony Christie, that would have got the audience going!

I have noticed very swift cuts to cameras (like you see a picture for a split second) so I guess there are seperate feeds.

Yep - though I think this was more a case of multiple feeds whizzing between trucks to create a pool feed.

PETER KAY FOR CRYING OUT LOUD NOT CARELESS WHISPER!

Sorry for shouting.

Mics are now on the crowd.

Got to say that Robbie at least is causing some crowd reaction. Shocked

I wonder what the US AOL viewers are making of Peter Kay and Amarillo?!

Seems the Beeb are at fault for making this seem flat all day - some fantastic performances but not having mics on the crowd has made it feel like no more than a long compilation CD in my living room for most of the day.

I was annoyed they cut away from REM for an interview too.

I switched off as soon as the expletives started.

Sorry, but I don't care what this concert is all about - I *WILL NOT* allow my 3 year old and 5 year old to hear that sort of language on TV at their age at 6:30PM!

Maybe the Beeb should have taken a more responsible attitude, and introduced a stream on BBCi that was 30 seconds behind and had the offensive words bleeped out, for a family audience?

Swearing is not big, not clever, and certainly not funny.

That's all I'm going to say on the matter. I don't care if anyone disagrees with me. That's my standpoint in my house and that's the end of it.

Good on ya! I think many thousands of parents will agree. It would be interesting to hear whether the BBC actually anticipated swearing and, if not, why? I would have expected it.

Regardless of whether other people mind swearing and what the concert is for, I think it's an indisputable fact that it was innappropriate language for broadcast at teatime on Saturday.

Does anyone share the view that live concerts/gigs/ whatever you care to call them don't really work (on TV at least) until it starts to get dark? ie. there appears to be very little atmosphere, the whole thing looks a bit shambolic etc.

Ross seems to be doing a good job after 12 hours on radio/tv - enjoyed his sarcastic comments right at the start - I must say I've watched very little of this as I'm amongst those who are highly cynical about the hypocrisy of the whole thing, but I will probably stay with it until the end - just to see how long they overrun and the consequences...

We're nearing the end now. So what were everyone's highlights?
IMO it was a huge disappointment, but performance wise i guess Robbie was the highlight of the event as he actually managed to wake the living dead Rolling Eyes

But for me it was actually Peter Kay who stole the show
Shocked Rolling Eyes
