If something isn't funny to someone, don't try and manipulate it into something they feel it isn't to appease your better judgement. Killjoys, pff...

As an aside, is it a requirement of the Little Britain fan to delude themselves into the logic that the whole concept hasn't ran out of actual jokes sometime during series 2 and have since been running on shock factor or overreliance on one line characters to get a laugh? I'm what you could consider a fan of Walliams and Lucas but they must move on and come up with something new as they're just ploughing the same furrow over and over. The 3rd series had no chance anyway as it's been done before by them during series 2 unless finding a whole kinda newish way to do grossout comedy counts as new.

Agreed Nini - like I said, I was a Little Britain fan (indeed, I AM a fan of the first two series) and I've been really trying to like this third series. I just don't think it's got it. And I do think that some people are trying a bit too hard to "enjoy" it, and actually convincing themselves that it really is as good as it was.

I'm not, by the way, suggesting that anyone posting that they are enjoying it is doing that, you may well be genuinely enjoying it, I'm just using experience of people I know.

As I see it, there are 2 problems here, and it's actually a bit of a no-win situation. On the one hand, the old characters are becoming repetitive and predictable. I know that to an extent this is the point of the act, and it worked for 2 series, but this is a series too far IMO. The Dafydd sketches, Vicky Pollard and, to a point, Lou and Andy, are becoming quite painful to watch.

On the other hand, the new characters (brought in to avoid the first problem) really haven't captured my imagination. Indeed, the incontinent Mrs Emery is not particularly funny, and certainly doesn't have much mileage. She pees herself in inappropriate situations. That's it. Go figure. Ting Tong seems to miss the mark completely as well. They're just not as good as the old characters, yet these old characters have themselves become stale.

This is why they should have left it at 2 series in my opinion, and I certainly don't think they should do any more after this one. They are really cheapening what was once a great, groundbreaking comedy.

To show the main problems with all characters (and because I think it's cool posting big messages in threads) here:

Vicky Pollard: Good character, however good ideas have been done, and slowly running out of good ideas

Lou and Andy: Slowly losing it, but are still hanging on, and gets a laugh now and again

Anne: Predictable, but still makes you laugh sometimes, depending what she does.

Daffyd: Totally lost it in my opinion - hardly any laughs at all - I don't think it was right keeping some characters for all three series, and Daffyd is one of them

Dudley and Ting Tong: Clever, but some people may find it more disturbing than funny.

Bubbles (and Desiree): 50/50 - I personally find the sketches hilarious, but I agree with most people by saying it's more horrid than funny.

Linda (The one who rings "Martin"): Lost it - Totally lost it, she says too many "comments" before saying "That's right...(whoever)".

Marjorie Dawes: Now, You can tell a change has been made in the writing process, as you can't get a hilarious laugh from it, but is still funny.

Sebastian (and PM): First sketch of this series wasn't very good at all. Anthony Head in nothing but "sexy" underwear. (oh god, i can't believe I said the S word) Second sketch improved a bit more as it brought a bit more of the originals back into life.

Orville: TBC

Sid: TBC

To conclude, Little Britain's characters ARE losing it, but not all of them, and also it's not even half way into the series yet. Let's wait and see the rest of then before you lot can REALLY complain.

Thank You

By watching tonights episode, some things have confused me:

Ting Tong turned on Dudley and let him for a little bit of you-know-what even though last episode, Dudley found out Ting Tong was a "lady-boy".

Judy and Maggie were reported as AXED, yet they have made two appearances in this series so far, and still doing what they are hated for.

Lou and Andy is being improved though, but Norman Fry, GOD is that character a waste of time or what!?

Possibly the funniest moment was Tom Bakers ending announcement:

"Tonights episode was broadcast as a tribute to Matt Lucas and David Walliams, who are sadly still with us. Are thoughts go to their family and friends at this awkward time"

Hmm, back down with the 1st episode. I think this show has had its day now but still a 'future' classic to look back on I feel.

A better move would of been to of had an 1hr 'last ever episode' xmas episode apposed to a 3rd series, but thats just my opinon

I think the 1st series is still the best - it's the League of Gentlemen factor all over again - highly praised first series, slightly dodgy second series, absolutley dreadful 3rd series - and then obscurity...

Right... (apologies for my biased attitude throughout this whole post but these are my views... Razz )

In regards to BOI LOX, they can't get rid of the well-known characters (Lou and Andy, Marjorie, Anne etc) as people just won't tune in anymore. Its become a nation-wide hit for those particular characters. Its like getting rid of Mr Humphries from Are You Being Served.

Your point though is probably that they've lost it? Well, in my own 'personal' opinion, Carol (the travel agent) is the only original (series 2) character that has had her day- because they've changed her personality slighty.

Anyway, some people obviously see the comedy in a different light rather than just laughing at the insane-ness of it all. Yes, Bubbles and Desiree, the peeing Mrs Emery, may be disgusting in your view (and is mine)- but its what grabs people's attention.

Anyway, I'l shut up now - I've said my piece. Embarassed

I agree with those of you who say that the daffyd/ lou and Andy sketches are getting a bit dull and I also feel that the Bubbles De vere sketch has started to lose it as well. I found this hilarious in the second series and was easily able to suspend my disbelief because of the small amount of time the fatsuit was visible. BUT now that they basically spend the entirety of the sketch naked, it has lost its 'magic'.

I also think that Lucas has managed to remain the most talented actor of the pair in this series. Walliams seems to have ground to a halt - Is it just me or does every new character he plays talk with the same voice?

Lucas is supremely talented and his ability to totally transform his vocal performance and physicality is astounding. He really holds this series together.

did anybody notice in the last lou and andy sketch at the end of the programme (power cables) that some of the location shots were actually in a studio?

anybody know why this was done?

Andy's "motion" didn't look right, I think that's what it was. It could've been due to the conditions of where they were filming.

I'm still wondering why Judy and Maggie keep appearing. Then again, has anybody realised they don't go to the fares anymore?
