The fact that all of us are using pieces of technology most likely put together by people in East Asia for buttons as wages in factories where employees commonly take their own lives means none of us can really say we've got a leg to stand on in terms of morals and principles.

This is veering off topic, but similarly with the studios and broadcasters that bend to the Chinese government, despite clear racism and potentially genocide taking place in the country.
And I don't believe we'll see any broadcasters refuse to show the Qatar world cup, even though modern-day slavery has built the stadia.
On a related note I have a vague recollection of a Trevor McDonald impression sketch in an early series of Bremner, Bird, and Fortune, where I *think* Rory made use of blackface.
He did indeed. The impression was bollocks as well, which doesn't really help.
I presume it's meant to be an Americanised version of Trevor McDonald's accent.
There were also the Ainsley Harriott sketches with Rory Bremner done in blackface - I remember posting one a couple of years ago in a previous (presumably off-topic) discussion on blackface, thinking how it would likely be unacceptable in 2018.

I recall seeing a trailer for his Channel 4 show where he was presenting News at Ten as he usually would, and the impression was still terrible. It stuck out to me because I consider Rory to be one of the better impressionists. Anyway, that's neither here nor there.
I think it’s a bit of a overreaction to cancel a
subscription service or two over the removal of a TV programme.
I don't think so, most of the stuff I watch will come under this act. I think this is only the start and other shows will be removed. And by continuing to give them money, I am supporting their ideology. Which I do not agree with. As I say I may be one in a million. (or a couple of hundred thousand in the case of Britbox....) Netflix is also starting to get into the habit of axing shows, The OA and Messiah are two shows which have been axed recently. Both were popular from what I understand, and Messiah was apparently axed for other reasons other than viewing figures. Again a very ideological thing to occur.
This may just be a period of over-sesitivity in our world. I remember the infamous Klansman episode from the professionals which was banned. But a decade or so later it was eventually broadcast and later released.

What’s strange is that - presumably - the version on UKTV Play would be the same as the broadcast version which, the report says, has had the racist language removed in recent years. It also says it’s still there in the Netflix version.
Seems like a strange decision, something I’ve an overreaction, nowhere near the level of problem that other programmes that have been removed had. And if it’s been edited out already, and has been for a long time, it’s even stranger. Maybe it hadn’t been edited from that version and it’ll reappear in edited version?
Dear TV executives. Instead of panic erasing stuff which most of the public, & even the creators of the shows now find a bit cringe, HIRE & COMMISSION NEW DIVERSE TALENT. It’s not that hard...
(I think the discussion here has covered the fact that these shows are available if you want to seek them out, they’ve just been dropped from certain services.)
That’s a pretty lazy Tweet that ignores all the progress that’s been made in recent years.
I think comedy has got a lot more diverse in recent years particularly on the BBC, the brilliant Man Like Mobeen is probably my favourite new sitcom in recent years.

Not to mention things like The Ranganation on BBC Two, Timewasters on ITV2 and Channel 4 have done shows like The Big Narstie Show and The Lateish Show.
