I dont know whether this appropriate for this thread but the BBC are reporting that the government has being criticised for testing the coronavirus tracing app on the Isle of Wight which according to the article has an "overwhelmingly white population" (You'll have to scroll down to find the story):

I'm looking forward to Norway being removed from Google Maps, after the disgraceful conduct of the Vikings in the 800s

Edit: Also Life on Mars I know features some kind of racism or homophobia, Only fools and horses, Some Mothers Do ave em, Porridge, The Office, Extras, Peep Show, Fawlty towers. You might as well just close the service down. The world has gone mad!
Life on Mars has the context of actually being a period show though, set in the 1970s. It was just reflecting the reality of when it was set. The differences in attitudes between Sam Tyler (who of course disapproved of anything that wasn't politically correct, like racism, sexism, and homophobia) and everyone else was a key part of the show.

It looks the Lethal Weapon 5 episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia been pulled from Netflix, 'Dee Reynolds: Shaping America's Youth'.

EDIT: The Lethal Weapon 6 one is still there, so who knows.

I’m surprised The Inbetweeners didn’t get caught up in controversy a few years ago what with all the terms they use to describe women.

Then also I imagine some might find the jokes directed at Neil’s dad offensive as well

A lot of it they get away with because it's through Will's voice and he's the one who himself is critical of what is said.

A lot of the terms used are so over the top that they lose any offensiveness as they're just funny and ridiculous

One key thing about The Inbetweeners is that the boys were often the victims of their own doing and not the female characters. Jay for example was always bragging about being a ladies' man when it was
so far from the truth.

I saw someone saying that Father Ted's Chinese episode would be removed next which is completely missing the point of the episode.

Removal of The Inbetweeners from YouTube is just a coincidence.

Statement today from Channel 4:

Quote:
“The rights owner of The Inbetweeners (outside the UK) has changed from DRG to Banijay Group, so the standalone YouTube channel showing The Inbetweeners content has been taken down for the time being. Full episodes are still available on All 4.”

Basically DRG has held the international rights for a long time (which included control of the YouTube channel) but that deal has just expired so they revert back to the production company Bwark, which is now owned by Banijay.

Graham Linehan's twitter antics are doing more damage to that show than any of the actual content could possibly do.

I think that ITV3 will NOW stop showing repeats of Rising Damp. I know that Phillip always got the better of Rigsby, but it's the language Rigsby uses towards Phillip.

There's a decades old debate about whether some sitcoms shine a light on and mock racists rather than promote racism itself.

Which is strange, given that over in Germany, a Banijay affiliated production company has been uploading whole programmes from it's archive to You Tube during lockdown, which up to then had been taken down if any copies had been uploaded to it.

I'm not sure I follow. They've been uploading whole episodes of The Inbetweeners in Germany?
