I was looking through the lisitngs on digiguide and came accross the lisitngs for CBBC Digital and CBeebies. Lets hope these are broadcast in 4:3 rather than the current nasty 14:9 crop used by CBBC.

Why are they cropping? It's stupid. I complained to the BBC about it. Did not get a straight explanation, in fact CBBC wasn't mentioned in the replies at all, despite the fact it was the subject of the emails, just a load of meaningless technical crap about widescreeen. No explanation, no reason given, not even a mention of CBBC in the email. Why is the head of childrens programming being so stupid, pathetic and ignorant? Yes, widescreen might be the best thing since sliced bread to the BBC people, but this is toally the wrong way to show it off- degrading the quality of existing programmes to make it look 'cool' in widescreen, when in fact it looks crap. Lets hope they end this charade,a dn that someone fromt he BBC actually reads this post. Even if CBBC do show some good classic programmes, I won't watch in protest. I think it's only done sot hey gan go from links into programmes without a fraction oif a second of black and so they can do continuity over the credits. Have they heard of 4:3 pillarboxing? Cropping is disgraceful, and if it extends to all 4:3 programming, then we should only pay so much of our licence fee.

I don't think that would make much difference - one viewer not watching in protest!

You will not see the BBC (or any other broadcaster really) reversing widescreen.

I don't want them reversing the widescreen, just the decision by an incompetant group of people to start cropping the 4:3 stuff. I have actually seen CBBC show a few programmes starting in pillarbox then suddenally someone thinks 'Whoops I'm showing the programme poperly. must ruin it' and flicks a switch and starts cropping it.

Oh look - Digiguide are using the old-style C|B|B|C| logo for both channels! (Or rather the slightly dodgy version on the CBBC website). Well it's better than the new ones anyway.

Well, I downloaded Digiguide but didn't subscribe so is there any sites etc that have didiguide so I can have look at what will be on etc. I've tried www.cableguide.co.uk which takes Digiguide but it doesn't have it!
