I think a webpage I wrote a few weeks ago sums up my dislike of ITV:

"Crappy drama series that take place at the same time as 24, so I can't see the next episode on BBC3."

Crappy drama series that you HAVE to watch instead of 24? ITV Drama can't be that crappy then.

Besides, I can't take somebody who owns a Pokemon website at all seriously.

That's a little bit naive - ITV beat the BBC with their Iraq war coverage and spent £13million on it. They wouldn't bother if they had no interest in news... not forgetting the ITV News Channel... and yes - their news is (get ready for this...) news. From watching the ITV News I get the same information I could get from the BBC, Channel 4 or five.

Hmmm, not really. It was only News at Nine that beat the BBC opposition occasionally, and that was due to the fact it had stong lead-in / inheritance programming such as Coronation Street. The Ten O Clock News on BBC ONE was able to get a much higher than normal audience without a strong programme before, but was boosted by it if it was. Such programmes as Holby City, and an England game helped the Ten beat News at Nine occasionally.

At other times, The One O Clock News, Six O Clock News, Weekend News and the various BBC News Specials all got higher ratings than their ITV counterparts, and Breakfast overtook GMTV in the ratings during the Iraq war.

Not meaning to let this become another argument thread, like I've seen so many others become, but I cannot take seriously those who judge others based upon unneccesary prejudice. To degenerate further into school style battle of wits: "this coming from someone who goes onto forums to discuss TV presentation". We're all as sad as each other.

My original point about 24 was, in the article that was aimed to entertain, that I was being prevented from watching 24, I never said that I had to watch the ITV drama series. I'd also wager that any drama series on ITV isn't as good as 24, but that's a matter of opinion.

Anyway, this is a rather pathetic thing to dispute: my opinion vs yours. Mine is better, obviously. Razz

Thank you - I've been waiting for you to bring that up in this thread.

So you could moan about it?

I think that ALL members who take a thread off topic to discuss Crossroads should get a warning from the mods, as it's very irritating to other members.

The only person who uses Crossroads to take a thread of topic is James Martin - the most pointless pesron on here.

Back on subject
- I actually prefer the new ECP although ITV's are the most annoying (although BBC's are bigger and more pesky ITV have too many of them).
- I'm not keen on the announcers either - too boring.
- No respect for actual programmes - hacking them to bits, censoring to hell and talking over lovely one off endings to shows after a week of flashbacks.

I actually barely watch ITV any more so I can't comment too much on the shows - the only time I see it is normally when I'm channel hopping so I get to see the presentation side of things.

The new ident set is an improvement on the previous set, I'll give them that. I like the new "rotating squares" look as well on the endboards and the break bumpers (are they squares or just "things"?). Plus CITV's own break bumper (I can just see somebody somewhere playing that instead of the normal ITV1 break bumper outside 3:15-5pm...).

Not too keen on the ECP though, looks a bit cramped. Do they still have those coloured backgrounds from last time in use on this ECP? I've yet to see a proggie using them (Des & Mel don't bother, neither does its following proggie, the 3pm News doesn't have credits, CITV don't use those coloured backdrops...)

Yeah they are still used. Coronation Street still uses them. The bill has a lovely dark blue/slightly purple version. This morning have the light blue version.

The pile of crap I've written on the previous page

My ex-girlfriend's surname was Jones, and I do have to wonder if you are related because let's just say I was glad to be shot of her. You've skirted round the argument so spectacularly that it defies belief! You have made a comeback to everything I've said bar the facts and figures - which came from your own bloody website! - now isn't that ironic, don't you think? The only useful thing you did in that entire post was accuse me of being a peadophile - something you've already done on Planet Crossroads' Forums, may I add.

Fcuking hell, I try to challenge Hymagumba's argument - and there you are ready to poo poo me before you even GAVE my counter-argument a chance, probaly because of my reuptation. Now where have I heard that one before...?

* off, you Scottish *! You have a signature devoted to the bloody programme! I know you and Neil Jones are in cahoots - both here and on Planet Crossroads and I bloody well wish you'd drop it. I notice you haven't actually made any decent comeback to the Crossroads-related post I made that's caused all this trouble. Wonder why?

Moderation edit -- do not bypass the swear filter, and I'm shocked, *SHOCKED*, that you sunk to the level of ethnic slurs. Shameful. -- mrtoms
