I just thought I might ask everyone's opinion of ITV1. I find a lot of people on this forum semm to dislike the channel, I personally myself think it's the best terristial tv channel, over the past week I have watched ITV1 every night, at the moment it has some fantastic drama and daytime has improved, I think that ITV1 deserved channel of the year.
Please be honest!!!
Dislikes:
Nearly all the programmes they show are tripe.
Their idents are crappy and boring.
Their advert breaks are far too long and far too frequent, like Sky One almost!
They seem to think adverts are more important than programmes, esp. F1.
They hire crap journalists, such as Trevor McDonald and Martin Bashir.
They never bother replying to emails.
They complain about the BBC cross-advertising their channels when they do it all the time with ITV1/2, even on the ECP.
Their name and logo is utter crap.
Most people whinge about ITV for no reason. They are the best at what they do - they get better ratings and have more hit programmes than any other channel in the UK.
People here would rather they went back to a twee little system of regional stations, all managed seperately, despite the fact that this would be at an enormous cost and would be of no actual benefit.

but thats what the network was set up to be - licences for each region were offered and taken on that basis. perhaps this super dooper network you talk of should have been set up by carlton and granada under the national licence occupied by channel 5.
and perhaps carlton and granada wouldn't have to make so many cut backs if they had not embarked on their little itv digital escapade, and put that money into better programmes. and surely the millions pumped into the leeds, southampton and now london tx centres exceeds what it would have cost to retain the original system of a tx centre for each station, whiles looking a tad more professional.
-They show cheap tacky programmes,
-Most of their factual programmes have "from hell" in their title,
-They flood primetime with soaps,
-Lisa Riley is not suitable for anything, let alone the rubbish she does now,
-Their news is not news, merely a twelve minute slot between parts 1+2 of James Bond films,
-Next up on ITV1, "A touch of Frost",again,
-They don't justify the 1 in their channel title, because ITV2 is a quagmire of repeats and trashy add-ons,
-Their schedules are butchered left and right and are unlikely to be the same next week,
-Regional output is practically invisible, regional news sucks,
-As it is said on here, their F1 coverage is a joke (of adverts),
-Stars in their eyes, euughhh...

I agree with that entirely.
In this multi-channel age, ITV1 is still out performing all other opposition, running BBC One close, and dominating night after night in peak time.
When you consider the botomless pit of money available to BBC One via the taxpayer, ITV1 doesn't do half bad especially in face of increasing opposition and a reducing advertising pot. It is the best at what it does, and that's unashamedly creating populist television that appeals to the masses.
ITV's drama's are unsurpassed by any other broadcaster, and it's this area were they excel, so to write off all of the channel's programmes as crap is a nonsense. Okay, certain things might not be your cup of tea, but it doesn't make it crap. I think around here, you'll find that many people just jump on the ITV bashing bandwagon because it appears to be the trendy thing to do.
My hates about ITV are
- the random shunting of TV shows around
- their lack of innovation (or what classes as innovation these days)
- a certain issue that if mentioned would annoy James Martin.

Thats it for now.
As compared with BBC1:
- Between 7pm and 9pm they show cheap tacky programmes,
-Most of their factual programmes have "UK's Worst" in their title and are blatent copies of similar ITV1 series
-There's more soaps on BBC1 than ITV1
-Their six o'clock news and breakfast are a shadow of their former self
-Next up on BBC1, "Only Fools and Horses",again,
-Their schedules are butchered left and right and are unlikely to be the same next week,
-Regional output is still far less than ITV1,
-Fame Acadamy, euughhh...
We've heard it all before really haven't we, *yawn*
