I'm sure you've all heard of the clothing company Wrangler. They're the ones with the W on the back pocket of their jeans. Well, for a brand new t shirt, it appears they've decided to use a familiar W, albeit with different colours.

What would London Weekend Television have made of it, if LWT still actually existed as we know it?!

Gold instead of blue but otherwise the same design. ITV may have a case to sue them. Surely that logo is still copyrighted, even though it's no longer used?

Well, unless Wrangler had already approached ITV about it. It also depends upon who actually holds the rights to the 1970s LWT logo. I know Weekend Offender, another clothing company, uses the BR logo on a t shirt they sold at one time. I've got it, so you could argue that the BR logo would only be able to be used with permission. Maybe Wrangler have asked for permission to use it, with relevant fees paid of course.

LWT is actually one of the few trademarks ITV hasn't surrendered, although there is no trademark for LW as far as I know.

ITV could have a copyright claim, but there's no way they'd want anything to do with that sort of petty legal action.

Also, it's probably just about different enough from the original logo to get away with it.
